About the Author

The author first learned about food allergies after her sister was diagnosed with a mental illness in 1985. Back when naturopathic medicine was still considered a "fringe" form of healthcare, her sister was taken to Dr. Davis Lamson, N.D. in a desperate attempt to prevent her from suicide. The life-saving results of her allergy-free diet and naturopathic treatments set a new course of living for the entire family. Eight years later, Britt and her husband discovered that their first child had several food allergies and sensitivities. Armed with knowledge from her sister's experience and a desire to learn how to improve her daughter's quality of life, she set out to develop recipes that were more than just "getting by," but were familiar and enjoyable for the entire family. Britt has spent many hours talking with other families who are struggling with food allergies. She has helped them find recipes and prepared foods that fit their restricted diets without sacrificing flavor and taste!

This review is from: Food Allergy Handbook: A Quick-Start Survival Guide For People Learning To Eliminate Allergy Foods From Their Diet. (Paperback)
This book has been an absolute lifeline for me! I was recently asked to follow the genotype diet in order to diagnose some health issues that I'm having. The first few days I was really discouraged, not quite knowing how to tackle such extreme changes to my diet.

Then I remembered that I had this book, and although it doesn't follow my diet exactly, because it avoids most major allergens I am able to take the basic recipes and apply them to my situation. I have gone from feeling hopeless to at least feeling like I have a guide to get me started.

In addition to recipes, the book has helpful hints about which products to buy and even where to get them. It has saved me hours of research and been an incredible encouragement to me.
