To say this is the ABSOLUTE BEST cookbook for children with allergys would be a HUGE understatement. It does not get any better than this book. Kelly has a true gift. I have several other cookbooks and they are terrible. I love how Kellys recipes are every day household items. I live out in the middle of nowhere and having to find items that my local stores do not sell was very had with the other cookbooks. Then the food would taste like dirt and there were no pictures to see what "said food should look like" Kellys book is the exact opposite. Her recipes are every day ingredients. You can tell she puts her heart and soul into her recipes. Kelly is a lifesaver and I am just so thankful for how much she has helped my family. Not the first person has noticed that any of the foods I have made were dairy/egg/nut free. How wonderful is that?
Like I said IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS COOKBOOK!! I would pay triple the amount... that is how good it is!

Having tried several food allergy cookbooks and being an avid baking family, this is BY FAR THE BEST food allergy baking book available. I simply LOVE the Food Allergy Mama and am thankful she wrote this book!!! Not only does it have fantastic recpies but also great product and technique suggestions for baking without eggs/nuts/dairy. By the way, her blog is a wonderful resource as well.
The first recipe from the book I tried was the yellow birthday cake. My son is only 2 1/2 but already is aware that he can't have everything that the rest of his family can due to his food allergies. So, for my husband's birthday, he asked me to bake a cake my son could eat also. I presented my family with a three layer cake from this book that looked like the "regular" version...and I literally was jumping up and down when we all tasted the results. My son kept saying, "I have daddy's cake! Can I have more?" The cake was moist, rose like a regular cake, and was truly delicious. Other favorites: oatmeal raisin cookies (even better than my old version), whole wheat oatmeal pancakes (the best pancakes I've ever made AND they're healthy!!!), and muffins. Pretty much everything we've tried is super. Having a child with egg and nut allergies, our world has been turned upside down. This book has brought a lot of joy back to my life as a mommy who loves to bake for her kids. Thank you, for helping me let my child experience many of the fun kid moments like yummy birthday cake and homemade cookies hot out of the oven! I can't say enough good things about this book.

Delicious treats EVERYONE can enjoy!,
This review is from: The Food Allergy Mama's Baking Book: Great Dairy-, Egg-, and Nut-Free Treats for the Whole Family (Paperback)
I stumbled upon Kelly's blog about a year ago and started baking my way through it - anxiously awaiting her next post! I was thrilled when she announced her book because now I have one easy to use reference for my weekend baking! Her recipes are great, everyone loves them, the kids love to make them (and lick the beaters, spatulas and spoons!), most can't even tell they are allergy free, and they don't require fancy ingredients or mixtures. An all around delicious book that has allowed me to bring a variety of "safe" desserts to friends houses AND allows my son to eat the same treats everyone else is enjoying. Thanks Kelly!

As all parents of food allergy kids know when you first get the diagnosis you are overwhelmed with the thought of keeping your kid safe from food. Well my second thought was this can't be happening because I am supposed to be the Mom that makes the best homemade treats like chocolate chip cookies. This book does not disappoint. It is full of easy to follow recipes using ingredients that everyone already has in their pantry. Thanks to Kelly Rudnicki I am able to fulfill my dreams of making tasty and beautiful homemade baked goods for my family.

I can't say enough good things about this book! I stumbled upon Kelly's blog almost a year ago, and have eagerly checked for updates almost daily since then. I love having all the recipes (plus more!) in this book. The ingredients are things I can easily find at my local grocery store, and are things we're all used to eating anyway. The recipes are simple & straightforward enough that I can involve my 2 1/2 yr old in baking them on my 1st try. And most importantly, they taste awesome! So many non-food allergic friends & family rave over what I bake and ask me for the recipes. I direct them all to Kelly's recipes! Before I found her book, I struggled to find a great chocolate chip cookie recipe - all the ones I baked previously tasted "good enough" but not anything special. Then I found her chocolate chip cookie recipe & it is phenomenal!
I don't like cereal for breakfast, and most mornings make one of the pancake recipes, the oatmeal raspberry squares or one the many muffin recipes. The recipes require far less time than many others I've seen. I'm excited to try all the bread recipes in here. They look fantastic! Some don't miss recipes that I have tried include gingerbread cake, oatmeal pancakes, oatmeal raspberry squares, banana chocolate chip muffins, apple muffins & sugar cookies. I sometimes feel frustrated when some well-intentioned older relatives start pitying my daughter for her food allergies. They comment on all that she can't eat, and refer to what she does eat as "weird food." I've discovered that all I need to do to shut them up is bake & serve them one of Kelly Rudnicki's recipes. :-) Thanks, Kelly!

I am so disappointed in how many recipes call for tofu. Like a significant percentage of kids with a dairy allergy, my son is also allergic to soy. I can replace soy milk, soy margarine and soy yogurt pretty easily with coconut products, but I don't know what to do about the tofu or dairy free sour cream....almost every recipe calls for soy and almost all of the cakes/brownies call for tofu or dairy free sour cream.
I should have read the title better, it says nothing about being soy free, but I just did not expect this much soy. Go dairy free is a better option for those with dairy, egg,soy and wheat allergies.

even if you don't have allergies, this is a great book. the recipes are fun, healthy and delicious. from allergy-safe chocolate chip brownies to italian focaccia bread, the book is a winner. i can't wait to try soy nut butter cookies and dairly free key lme pie. adults often develop allergies later in life and this book is a great one to have on hand, just in case. the healthful recipes make total sense no matter what one's health is like. allergies or not, who can resist a recipe for apple house cinnamon doughnuts or banana chocolate chip muffins?

I love this cookbook. It is a great resource for anyone who suffers from dairy, egg or nut allergies. The recipes are easy to follow, use normal ingredients (no weird substitutions!) and best of all, THEY TASTE GREAT!!!!
I have been baking egg and nut free for the last 3 years for my son and I have bought several cookbooks and tried several recipes and they were difficult to make, used weird ingredients and did not taste good at all. This cookbook has some great recipes that have been hugely successful in our home. My husband used to be afraid to try anything that was made differently to accommodate my son's allergies, but he has approved every recipe I have made from this cookbook. The best part is that my son is able to feel normal eating cake and cookies, pancakes, waffles, and even donuts! I really love that this cookbook has taken away some of our discouragement with cooking with food allergies. It has made living with food allergies manageable for us. You wouldn't know you were missing the eggs and nuts when you are eating these recipes. My son does not have a dairy allergy so we have not followed the suggestions to use dairy free margarine, instead we use regular margarine or when it suggests soy or rice milk we use regular milk. This has not been a problem in the outcome of the recipes, they all taste phenomenal. I only wish the cookbook had more recipes. I am almost done cooking my way through it and wishing for even more!!! I have recommended this cookbook and Kelly's blog to everyone I know who suffers from food allergies or cooks for someone who has food allergies. My son's daycare provider uses Kelly's recipes for baked goods so my son can eat the same treats as the other kids. I even told my son's allergist about this cookbook so he could tell his other patients about it. Thank you Kelly for your hard work and amazing recipes. Our lives have been changed for the better thanks to you. Keep those recipes coming!

One of the best cookbooks ever,
This review is from: The Food Allergy Mama's Baking Book: Great Dairy-, Egg-, and Nut-Free Treats for the Whole Family (Paperback)
My 11-month old daughter was just diagnosed last week with a milk and egg allergy. After tearfully cancelling her birthday cake order, I was overwhelmed with what we were going to do for her first birthday cake. Every child deserves a birthday cake.
I came across this book at a local bookstore and bought it on a whim. I brought it home and it is so useful. It has substitutions for recipes that I want to create and many recipes that are easy to follow. Thank you for the brand and item suggestions in the front. You've done so much research that it makes it easier for me. I never knew that there was a cream cheese or sour cream substitute. Now I can even make some of our favorite meals using these safe items. I've made the zucchini bread (which I love because it has applesauce and zucchini in it. A must have for the picky eater who has decided to go on a baby food strike). I took it in to her daycare and they proceeded to yell at me for giving her bread (they don't want her to have a reaction there). It took me a while to convince them that REALLY it had no milk or egg in it. It is a good bread ... really good. So good that I'd take it to a potluck or a bake sale. The best part is that my child will have a birthday cake thanks to the chocolate cake recipe. Thank you ...

I can't say how fabulous this book is! My son has milk, egg, and nut allergies and so far all of the recipes I've made have been as good as the original or better! I have tried other versions and none taste this good! Plus, she makes them so simple to follow. Definitely a good purchase if you or someone you love has food allergies!
