About the Author

Melissa Taylor founded FAST in 1994 after being diagnosed with food allergies. Online since 1997, the website group offers free, interactive support for all ages faced with this condition.

More About the Author

millworks.webs.com

Melissa J. Taylor has been writing both fiction and non-fiction books since she could hold a pen the wrong way. (Her aunt had to bribe her to learn the other.) Her first book interchanged the words "Tom" and "Mom" over and over--and she didn't even know a Tom! One of her earliest honors was being chosen in elementary school to attend a writers' workshop. She has had articles and cartoons published in newsstand magazines.

Melissa started writing and illustrating the Guinea Pigs' Storybook series as a means to create a reading experience that would appeal to all ages and encourage reading together. When the fourth book was released, it reached #8 on Amazon Hot New Releases: Best Children's Mouse & Rodent Books. Melissa is also the author of the Caroline's Cavy series.

Format: Paperback
This is a great resource for those newly diagnosed, those with multiple food allergies, and severe food allergies. It contains practical tips for living with food allergies. It's not a cookbook, but does give help with creating your own recipes, where to find allergen-free foods. There's tips on traveling, eating out, fun non-food activies, and most of all support. The author gives examples from her own life, that are relevant to many of us with food allergies. This book is full of helps and tips to make life with food allergies easier.

Melissa Taylor's FAST book took me out of a dark place right after I was diagnosed with Severe Multiple Allergies. This book is very detailed with her experiences and her path past her allergy problems. She also gives a lot of practical advice for things for people with allergies to watch out for.
Melissa is very clear about not giving medical advice. Her ideas on how to make your own recipes from known recipes was very helpful.
I highly recommend this book for anyone diagnosed with allergies.
