Jessica Bemis Ward, the compiler and author, is an experienced cook, hostess, and, most importantly, funeral-goer! Having married into a large, well-known (and aging) family over 40 years ago, she has found herself many times in the midst of funeral arrangements. She shares her ringside observations in this new book. Her wit and wisdom are bountiful, her suggestions helpful, and her taste in both food and style "to die for."

5.0 out of 5 stars Eat and Enjoy, September 13, 2010
This review is from: Food to Die For: A Book of Funeral Food, Tips, and Tales From the Old City Cemetery, Lynchburg, Virginia (Paperback)
Food to Die for is a delightful educational read plus good recipes. Few people know the peace and pride that reside in our cemeteries. There is history and reflection found within the walls of burial grounds. The stories of who revived and took pride in these sacred spaces is an amazing read. What really drew me into this exceptional book is the humor. Oh, and there truly are some very tasty recipes. Surely worth the investment and one I recommend to anyone with interest in our celebrating life in a cemetery. I look forward to many visits to cemeteries and this is a reminder to make plans.
