Being told I was about one bowl of pasta away from Type II Diabetes, and that I should "eliminate" bread (my favorite food), I decided to search the web for a "cheat."

Sprouted grain anything is touted as being lower in carbohydrates and sugar than regular OR whole wheat anything (both of which convert directly to sugar when digested). Sprouted grain, allegedly, does not (according to an online flat belly diet plan, anyway). So, not wanting to give up pasta, (and who wouldn't want a flatter belly?) I decided to try this.

The box says that because it's natural, it cooks in half the time of regular pasta so, according to the directions, I cooked it for 4.5 minutes, but it was still a little stiff. Next time I'll try for 6 and see what happens.
The texture is similar to wheat pasta and with sauce on it, it was hard to tell the difference - except for the color.

I don't have blood work scheduled for another 4 months, and I haven't entirely given up on white bread, cheeseburgers and The Olive Garden, but hopefully this will help bring my triglycerides down. Oh! And I did lose 3 pounds without trying.

I like to try lots of healthier alternatives to foods that normally contain white flour. I think I've bought just about every whole grain pasta that my supermarket offers, at this point.

I'm having a hard time deciding where this one falls in the spectrum of whole grain pastas I've tried. It has AMAZING nutritional value: 27% of your daily fiber (7g) and 9g of protein, as well as 10% of your daily recommended iron intake. These values outcompete every whole grain pasta I've tried to date, I think. (Note: this is organic but does contain wheat, spelt, and barley, so is not gluten free, and also contains sprouted soybeans, so is not soy free.) The mix of grains makes this have COMPLETE protein, something that you can't say about very many plant-based foods. So that's also nice.

Taste-wise, it's more of a toss-up. It's a bit more "rustic" than I'm used to, for lack of a better word -- and this is coming from someone who eats a lot of whole grain pastas and who can barely handle white pasta any longer. To keep it from sticking together, stir while it's cooking and add a bit of olive oil to the cooking water. I didn't have much of a problem with this one sticking together.

Still, if you're looking to pack a lot of nutrition into every food you eat, you might want to give this a try.

This is the healthiest line of pasta on the market, so it's got that going for it, and I think that it tastes pretty good (I like the taste of whole grains), but my main problem with it is the texture. Personally, I don't want to call the manufacturers liars (they seem to be christians, and I have it on good authority that christians aren't supposed to lie), but I tried cooking this pasta on two separate occasions and both times it took way longer to cook it than stated on the box, and the results we got were (in my opinion) barely edible because the pasta was very tough and instantly stuck together when it was drained (this might be because I didn't boil it in enough water though).

Overall, I'm giving this product 4 stars because it is very healthy, it tastes okay if you like whole grains, and the food for life people make fantastic products. However, I will not be buying this pasta again because of the texture issue. Personally, I would recommend bionaturae brand pasta because it is simply the best pasta I have ever had. It's also cheaper than the food for life pasta, and is (at least according to the label) almost identical to the food for life brand on a nutritional front, although the food for life brand has more fiber and protein (and 30 more calories per serving). I'd say buy this at the store if you REALLY want to try it before you buy 6 or 12 boxes of it.

Love these noodles. I read reviews and was hesitant by some comments to purchase. Glad I ignored them and bought the product to see for myself. Cook exactly as directed and remove from water before completely done. They continue to cook long after they are out of water. I also found that if they go directly into the sauce you will be using it helps. Great product!
