Book Description

April 5, 2011
A guide to ending compulsive emotional overeating and establishing a healthy relationship with food.

Sunny Sea Gold started fighting a binge eating disorder in her teens. But most books on the topic were aimed at older women, women she had a hard time relating to. Calling on top psychiatrists, nutritionists, and fitness experts, Sunny offers real advice to a new generation fighting an age-old war. With humor and compassion from someone who's seen it all, Food: The Good Girl's Drug is about experiences shared by many women-whether they've been struggling with compulsive overeating their whole lives, or have just admitted to themselves, that yes, it's more than just a bad habit.

5.0 out of 5 stars a book of clarity April 8, 2011
By Ashanti
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I finished this in two days! My copy is highlighted and underlined and my journal is filled with all of the chapter questions and quotes from all of the girls' stories. This is a book that not only real but honest. It really made me realize that I don't have to suffer in silence and alone. I recommend any and everyone who has ever felt that their body image/weight/eating issues has prohibited them from living their life and is looking for a sense of direction to find healing and recovery. I know that it has definitely helped me.

Sunny, thank you SO much for writing this book b/c without it I would feel totally lost.

5.0 out of 5 stars . May 12, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book was incredibly helpful in understanding my own behaviors. I am still learning more, but this book is fantastic, with stories and personal experience backing everything up. I found it was written in a very warm and friendly tone and it gave me hope when I was not doing very well. It's a great starter on this topic.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Won't Be Sorry August 9, 2011
By Kristin
Format:Paperback
This is the best book I've ever read on the subject of emotional eating. It's given me validation, hope, and a set of tools that I really believe will make a difference in my life. I recommend using it with ideas from some of the other books linked with this one, but this is the place to start. If you struggle with food, do yourself a favor and read this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars This is for teenagers mostly
Book is OK. Mostly stories, and this is what other reviewers said. I will probably pass along as they are not pertinent to me (50+).

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs more info
The reason I only gave this book 3 stars is because the chapter on how to change binge eating is not long enough. It did provide a lot of insight and useful information.
