5.0 out of 5 stars Great for older babies and toddlers!
If you are going to only buy one baby/toddler cookbook, buy this one. The recipes are easy and babies love them. And all of the recipes are full of flavor and nutrients (not sugar and salt like the processed toddler food you buy at the store). My son is the pickiest eater alive and won't eat fruit and veggies in their natural state. However, he will eat them in...

3.0 out of 5 stars Buy this somewhere else
With Amazon.com's high "shipping and handling" fees, this little leaflet cost me almost $9. It's worth a couple of dollars at most, but might be better as a freebie thrown in with another order. Learn from my mistake and don't order it all by itself, or you will certainly be disappointed.

And all of the recipes are full of flavor and nutrients (not sugar and salt like the processed toddler food you buy at the store). My son is the pickiest eater alive and won't eat fruit and veggies in their natural state. However, he will eat them in these finger food recipes. Most of these recipes freeze well so you can thaw out individual portions as needed. I've recommended this book to many, many friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast and nutritious...and my child will actually eat it!, March 6, 2000

This review is from: Food For Little Fingers: Finger Foods Without White Flour, Salt Or Added Sugar (Mass Market Paperback)
I highly recommend this book. My 1 yr. old refused to eat vegetables unless I pureed them and spooned them in - this book changed that. He will now pick up veggies himself and is eating a lot more. The recipes are fast, nutritious and can be frozen, so it is easy to make a batch and then freeze the leftovers for a day when you have less time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A necessity for young eaters..., December 4, 1999

This review is from: Food For Little Fingers: Finger Foods Without White Flour, Salt Or Added Sugar (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is great to start your children to a lifetime of good eating. My list of toddler foods was limited and they wouldn't eat much of what I gave them. This book changed all that. They like most everything in it and I know that they are eating healthy, tasty dishes. At first it can seem like you are cooking all the time, but most recipes can be frozen for later use. You will be surprised at what your child will eat! I recommended this book to my pediatrician who thinks it's great. I couldn't get along without it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy, nutricious, and a great gift idea., October 18, 1998

When my grandaughter moved into table food, my son asked for some help. He and his wife were tired of eating and serving the same things. Of course, with table food came the independence of eating "by myself". The combination proved challenging for the family. After reviewing multiple books for "finger foods", I found Victoria Jenest's the best. Easy recipes, fun food for the entire family and healthy for all. I now give this book to friends and family when their meal time turns to a "battle of wills".

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for first-time parents, November 2, 2000

As a first time mom, I quickly ran out of ideas of what to feed my thirteen-month-old. This book has saved my life! Recipes include old standbys such as meatloaf (with tons of interesting variations) and more surprising recipes such as broccoli quiche and spinach pie. In the last three days, I've made eight recipes, and my previously finicky toddler has gobbled them up!

True, for adult palates, some recipes lack salt, but are quite flavorful otherwise.

A must!

4.0 out of 5 stars Looks great, but not until my daughter turns 1, July 25, 2001
This review is from: Food For Little Fingers: Finger Foods Without White Flour, Salt Or Added Sugar (Mass Market Paperback)
I bought this book because at 8 months, my daughter rejected all baby food and only wants to feed herself, and I was having a very difficult time getting her to eat any protein at all.

The recipes look amazing, but almost all of them include milk and/or eggs to hold the ingredients together. You can substitute formula or breast milk for the milk (which she does point out in the book), but I was told by my doctor to wait to give her egg yolks at 10 months, and absolutely no egg whites until 1 year.

I did cook the tuna & spinach patty cakes (using formula), which she loved! It was amazing to see her happily eat protein and vegetable in one meal. But fish is supposed to be given only once a week at this age... I can see this book will probably get lots of use when she turns 1.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent recipes, December 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Food For Little Fingers: Finger Foods Without White Flour, Salt Or Added Sugar (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is wonderful. It is filled with recipes that are nutritious, use common ingredients found at your local grocery store, and are easy to make (even for a not-so-great cook)! My child happily eats the dishes I have made so far. I highly recommend this book and could not be happier that I am giving my child proper nourishment that tastes so good!

4.0 out of 5 stars Make it, freeze it, thaw it later; kid loves it!, March 30, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Food For Little Fingers: Finger Foods Without White Flour, Salt Or Added Sugar (Mass Market Paperback)
I wasn't sure what I was going to do...my son tired of baby food at 12 months but had difficulty chewing some of the things we ate and in many cases just did not care for the heavier spices we enjoy...this cookbook was just what I needed. The meal-in-one dishes and entrees can be easily mixed up, baked in muffin tins or mini loaf pans, frozen and then thawed individually as needed. He hated tuna before we tried the Lemony Tuna Squares. He loves those, the meatloaf, the spinach pies and the tofu sticks...and that's just what we've tried so far.

A lot of it is Basic Casserole Theory: meat or veg + egg + breadcrumbs or rice = dinner, but hey, it works and he's getting a lot more variety. I use whole milk whereas I would use skim if I was cooking for adults only, and it's easy just to mix up a recipe or two on the weekends and have dinner ready for him in a snap the rest of the week when things are hectic. You can also add more or less spice to taste.

I'll agree with the others: pictures would have made it a five, but the price is right and it's been a great investment for us!

4.0 out of 5 stars Two Fingers Up!, June 5, 2000
This review is from: Food For Little Fingers: Finger Foods Without White Flour, Salt Or Added Sugar (Mass Market Paperback)
This cookbook has great ways to sneak in the ever contentious vegetable! The recipes are easy, quick, and I really appreciate the freezing suggestions. This makes providing nourishment a lot easier for a busy or working mom like myself. Being a visual person, pictures would make this book a five but hey, its a paperback and it is worth a try for the reasonable price. This book will give you some great ideas.
