5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Moroccan Cookbook Ever Written in English
Paula Wolfert's new book on Moroccan cooking is indisputably the best book ever written on the subject. She draws on a life experience of over 40 years with Morocco making her observations and insights invaluable. If you have ever read any of her other books, and I say read, because her books are more than just collections of recipes, they are a highly readable...

3.0 out of 5 stars My comments
I sincerely loved the book prior- Couscous & other recipes; but this one had pictures that really annoyed me. When a publisher wants to sell a book that expensive, the least that needs to be done is to have up to date pictures, especially when the book is that expensive. The recipes were excellent; no comments on that and Paula is so far the best for me, Moroccan and used...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Moroccan Cookbook Ever Written in English, November 11, 2011

Paula Wolfert's new book on Moroccan cooking is indisputably the best book ever written on the subject. She draws on a life experience of over 40 years with Morocco making her observations and insights invaluable. If you have ever read any of her other books, and I say read, because her books are more than just collections of recipes, they are a highly readable collection of history, anecdotes, stories and great cooking, then you will know that this is consistent theme in all of her books. Here recipes have been painstakingly written down, perfected, tested, adjusted, and made to work beautifully.

This is a rarity in today's world of cookbook writing, but with Paula's recipes, you know that they will always work, that they are unambiguous, clear, and concise. If you are after the quintessential book on Moroccan cookery, then this is it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Retread of Earlier Book, December 1, 2011

I liked this book and really enjoyed the pictures but was sadly disappointed that this was a retread of the authors earlier work on Couscous from 1973. Some of the text and recipes are exactly the same.... I erroneously bought both... and as I was reading the second found it very familiar..... it was the exact same story in the same words. So for $26 you get pictures and for $13 you get recipes with no pictures. You decide. Note that the new book ($26) does have some additional recipes in it.

Another excellent cookbook from Paula Wolfert , loaded with information and recipes, and with even more information and recipes than her earlier Moroccan cookbooks. Both earlier Moroccan cookbook, and this latest one are happily residing on my cookery bookshelves next to other books by Paula Wolfert. There are so many delicious and wonderful recipes. This is a must have for the serious cook.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful revision of a great classic, December 9, 2011
This review is from: The Food of Morocco (Hardcover)
The is a revision of Wolfert's "Couscous & Other Good Foods From Morocco" with updates to now available ingredients, expanded dishes, and very nice photos. If you have the original, I guess you don't really need this revised edition, but you want it, so get it. And, you will be happy you waited a bit and got it for a reduced price.
I am giving a copy as a present for the holidays.

3.0 out of 5 stars My comments, December 6, 2011
This review is from: The Food of Morocco (Hardcover)
I sincerely loved the book prior- Couscous & other recipes; but this one had pictures that really annoyed me. When a publisher wants to sell a book that expensive, the least that needs to be done is to have up to date pictures, especially when the book is that expensive. The recipes were excellent; no comments on that and Paula is so far the best for me, Moroccan and used to cooking as I am, but the pictures were probably taken in the early 80s and it was just not fair for me as a customer to see such outdated pictures in the cookbook. I'd say please hire a professional photographer in Morocco and ask them to take 2009 pictures of Morocco and the recipes, instead of disappointing the reader with such old pictures. This is why even though I was resolved to buy the new book of Paula Wolfert, I will not, unless the publisher puts pictures that worthy of the respect of the reader. I am a graphic designer and the quality of the pictures was also not good- hazy at most. With the competition out there and the visual demands of 2011 readers, and the beauty plus of anything affiliated with Moroccan culture and Moroccan cuisine, you just can't take picture choice and design so lightly. Please accept my criticism, I have no agenda whatsoever, but I would buy the book were the pictures showing respect for the reader.
