This book provides an excellent overview of all the factors one needs to consider when starting up a mobile food business. I appreciated the comprehensiveness. The organization of the chapters makes it really easy to skim sections that have information in which the reader may already have a background, such as food prep, storage, equipment, rotation, etc. for folks that have experience in a professional kitchen. Business people need the kitchen knowledge; kitchen people will need the business knowledge. Permitting, choosing a location and marketing may be something completely foreign to most number crunchers and professional cooks, but is a critical consideration when starting a mobile food business. And thankfully is covered in this book. The book has something for everyone unless one is already experienced with running a successful mobile food business. I have a business background and my partner is a chef, so between the two of us we have a lot of knowledge needed for getting started. But reading the book helped boost our confidence that we can put together a solid business plan and navigate the start-up process. I highly recommend it to folks thinking of starting a mobile food business or encountering lack of success in their current mobile venture.

I found this book through the author's website - smallfoodbiz.com. This book, like the website, is focused on the real things that entrepreneurs need to start and run a successful food business. Do you think understanding the fundamental financials in your food truck or food cart business are important? Do you know all of the budget-friendly marketing and PR options available to you? Do you want to build a real business plan that you can use yourself or take to investors? Then this is the book you want. Not coming from a finance background, I found the financial worksheets and sample business plan especially helpful. Just check out the "Look Inside" feature and take a look at the Table of Contents to see what I mean about the level of detail this book goes into.

In my opinion this book is NOT worth the money to buy it. I have 30 plus years in working kitchens, from steak houses to pasta joints and I probably could have written a better book than this, at least one not so self promoting.

Food on Wheels is an informative MUST-HAVE for food truck entrepreneurs! Those of us hoping to catch the food truck wave can guide ourselves to a successful start, thanks to this book.

Jennifer Lewis' book is easy to read with lots of useful information, considerations and worksheets that will help you flesh out your fledgling business. She uses a fictional company `Sweet Bits Treat Truck', as an example we can follow with no previous knowledge of the food industry or business ownership. Marketing, financials, insurance, regulations, payroll are all covered. I highly recommend this wonderful how-to-do book!

Waste of time and money! It shows you simple math that if people don't know already, they can probably not read anyway. Not sure how the other food truck books are but I'm sure they cant be worse. Out of the 175 pages (short) about 20 are acknowledgements or about the author. To make it worse about 10 pages are not fit to the Kindle version. Google "Food Trucks" and you will find more info...
