1.0 out of 5 stars Information is suspect
I concur with the "DANGER! Not remotely CORN free!" review. The excerpts I examined that purported to be corn-free recipes were nothing of the sort. A sign of utter negligence on behalf of the authors and publishers. Although I haven't examined the rest of the content in the book, and although the non-corn-related recipes may actually be allergen-free, their failure to...

I concur with the "DANGER! Not remotely CORN free!" review. The excerpts I examined that purported to be corn-free recipes were nothing of the sort. A sign of utter negligence on behalf of the authors and publishers. Although I haven't examined the rest of the content in the book, and although the non-corn-related recipes may actually be allergen-free, their failure to adequately and thoroughly research corn allergies and corn-free recipes prior to publication makes the entire book suspect. Proceed with extreme caution!!!

Food to Some, Poison to Others: The Food Allergy Detection Program by Terry Traub and David E. Allen If you have problems with indigestion, rashes, sneezing, or other discomforts it may be due to food allergies. These are very difficult to identify because we do not eat isolated foods but many ingredients mixed together. This book details how you can cure yourself by identifying the foods that make you feel ill. It is an arduous process that required discipline while you are identifying the culprits, but the rewards of feeling good again are worth it. This book tells you what you can eat and what you must eliminate during the identifying process and tells you step-by-step how to go about the task. Unless you suffer you will not be willing to go through this process, but if you are one of the millions of allergy sufferers, this is a priceless guide of how to cure yourself. It works! and it IS worth the effort. This book is the best yet in how to go about the process. You CAN do it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource!, November 3, 2008
This review is from: Food to Some, Poison to Others: The Food Allergy Detection Program (Fitness Diet) (Paperback)
I have reviewed this book and feel it is an excellent resource for anyone trying to detect a possible cause of undiagnosed digestive problems. So many people today run the gauntlet with over-the-counter and prescribed medications without taking personal responsibility to determine if they have a food allergy. Ms. Traub's book provides detailed information on food allergies and guides the reader through a series of simple tests, using daily menu suggestions, including delicious recipes.

I noted a previous reviewer questioning some items which did not ring true, so I decided to check her claims. The author, Ms. Traub, states early in the book that all ingredients used in her detection program need to be organic. Using organic products should negate remarks about vegetable wax, as most organic growers do not allow pesticides or any coating on their fruits and vegetables. The negative reviewer had the most issues with corn; I checked the FDA on corn and it is not a recognized allergen. I understand that there may be folks out there with rare corn allergies, however the false cries of danger definitely detract from the the benefits provided in this book. On a personal note, I recently had opportunity to try the cured turkey, which was in fact one of the most delicious dishes I've ever tasted. Curing is a method of preserving food with salt, not corn. I will never cook a turkey without the curing/brining Ms. Traub recommends. My congratulations to Ms. Traub for providing her expertise in helping many with food allergy issues. I'm looking forward to checking out her web site, which I understand will have informational updates and holiday recipes.

This review is from: Food to Some, Poison to Others: The Food Allergy Detection Program (Fitness Diet) (Paperback)
In the book "Food to some poison to others" it has invaluable information in finding reasons you may have undiagnosed symptoms. It may even help in easing or curing you from horrific pain. This author has done our research for us in finding allery-causing food groups.
I highly recommend this book to those who want to improve the way they feel and not sure where to start. So many of us have food allergies and don't realize it. I have IBS and this book has been a great help to me. And the delightful recipes are a big help in coping too.
