4.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad start
Really good book for beginners. If you are just starting out in the world of "stored food", this will be a good book to start. The lists of food items may seem daunting and overkill, but trust me it's not. When you start rotating through the supplies as the author suggests you will see just how much you need. Don't try to do all of it at once, just ease into it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Begin with another book, not this one.
This book was purchased by accident, but had I been looking for food storage guidelines, I would have been sorely disappointed. A five minute skim through this book found a scant 38 pages of text, several meaningless flow charts, and a large section of pages for notes. The information can easily be found online for free and who doesn't know how to take a piece of paper...

This book was purchased by accident, but had I been looking for food storage guidelines, I would have been sorely disappointed. A five minute skim through this book found a scant 38 pages of text, several meaningless flow charts, and a large section of pages for notes. The information can easily be found online for free and who doesn't know how to take a piece of paper and divide it into "breakfast", "lunch", and "dinner" to plan out menus. Do we really need fourteen fill in the blank note pages for this? I found it an insult to my intelligence and overpriced to boot.

1.0 out of 5 stars Only the scared, September 29, 2008
This review is from: Food Storage 101 Where do I begin? (Cookin' With Home Storage) (Paperback)
Not what I expected. Food storage 101 title lead me to believe the book was about preserving, canning, pickling, salting, and other possible ways to store perishable food items. But not so. The author takes a rather scared approach to food shortage.
NOT happy with the book. I am interested in how to prepare and store my garden produce. Learning ways to preserve food. This book address' the issue of stocking away food for crisis situations. The introduction is one of concern and care for someone to be able to feed and nourish themself for 1 year during a possible food shortage, natural disaster, or holocaust.
