Book Description

2001
A breakthrough guide to less stressful living through more conscious eating

Food swings—the reactions in your mind and body to what you eat—is Dr. Barnet Meltzer’s eye-opening diagnosis for the crucial link between your diet and your emotional and physical well-being. Now, in Food Swings, Meltzer maps the interplay between harmful food habits and emotional, physical, and mental stress—a downward spiral that inevitably leads to further stress and ill health. He argues persuasively for healthier eating patterns and food choices as the basis for life-long emotional and physical wellness. Meltzer presents a complete program for how to prevent stressful food swings by selecting the foods that are best for you. Included is an in-depth guide to the “personality” of dozens of foods, as well as guides to the foods likeliest to cause anxiety and depression, and those that are the best source of energy.

Food Swings will help you reshape your eating habits and show you the key to transcending the temptation to eat foods you know will have damaging effects on your body. In time, you will learn how to eat well and sustain better and higher performance at work, sex and play.

5.0 out of 5 stars Changed my life. Seriously., January 22, 2006

This review is from: Food Swings: Making the Life-Changing Connection Between the Foods You Eat and Your Emotional Health and Well Being (Paperback)
If you feel like your moods change easily (and sometimes self-destructively), the answer may be simpler than you imagined. "Mood Swings" details how we no longer understand the difference between "hunger" (a physical desire) and "appetite" (an emotional desire) and how we abuse ourselves with the way we eat. Even if you THINK you're eating healthy (as I did), you most likely are not.
