Product Description

Size: 2 Pack

FoodSaver Deli Containers are great for keeping deli meat, cheeses and other refrigerated foods fresh longer. Vacuum sealing locks air out and seals freshness in, preserving the taste and nutritional value of stored foods. They can hold up to a pound of deli meats and fit neatly in the refrigerator deli drawer. BPA Free.

OK so if you put a vacuum in the container the lids seal well.

Great for packing leftovers in to lunch at work, or storing meat, cheese etc. at home.

They work great with the food saver vacuum and keep their seal until you break it.

I purchased this item because I like the occasional ham or turkey sandwich but I normally can't finish a pack of lunch meat before it goes bad. I decided on the deli containers over the Foodsaver sealing bags and zipper bags for a few reasons. First- The Foodsaver sealing bags are expensive making them an undesirable choice for something that you would be opening repeatedly since you lose a few inches of bag each time. Second- The majority of reviews of the zipper bags say they leak in air and you have to purchase an extra attachment on top of bags that you will eventually throw away even if you do wash and reuse them.

So far the deli containers have held a good seal and I know they will last a lot longer than the bags. I've had my lunch meats and cheeses sealed in these containers for a couple weeks now and there's no mold or funky smells.

The only thing I've discovered that's not so great is that due to the construction of the release valve sitting higher than the top of the lid, they are prone to releasing the vacuum if you slide anything on top of the deli container in the fridge and perturb the valve. The release valve is very easy to pull up and even the slightest movement of it lets air into the container. So the solution is just not to stack anything on top of these but in a cramped fridge like mine every free space is fair game.

I like these containers a lot and I think they are very useful. You have to know a few tricks, though. First of all, it is important to make sure that the vacuuming process does work every single time. Sometimes during dish-washing, the rubber band under the lid might get misplaced, and then the vacuuming won't work. It's easily fixable, but you just have to pay attention if you don't want your foods to get spoiled. Also, these particular containers don't fit a lot in them, so they are not good for large servings of food. If you are planning to store something perishable in them for a long period of time (over a week), I suggest you check on the container every 3-4 days to see whether it's still vacuumed. If it is, you will see it -- the container changes its form a little when it's under vacuum. Don't buy it from Food saver's website -- it's much more expensive than anywhere else... Otherwise, enjoy -- I have 6 of these, and I use them all the time.

I like these over the bags. Do not get me wrong the bags are great. Just cost so much. I own about 20 of these. I do put close to everything in them and they keep the food fresh. If you use your FS as much as we do. Container are a big must.

I originally bought a FoodSaver to vacuum seal plastic bags for sous vide cooking. Using them for food storage was too expensive because the bags were too pricey. Then I discovered these re-usable containers and canning jars.

I am now using FoodSaver for vacuum storage of most of my refrigerated foods and many bulk-purchased dry foods. I use Ball Canning jars for vegetables, small fruits, and even meats (up to 1/2 gallon size). FoodSaver sells an adapter for mason jar lids.

I use the FreshSaver Deli Container for lunch meats, cherry tomatoes, and smaller amounts of food that I will access more frequently (offloading them from the larger jars as required.) Used in this way, the smaller container size becomes an advantage. My wife and kids can easily release the vacuum on the FreshSaver, whereas they would have more difficulty unsealing a mason jar. This pack comes with the little adapter required for this container that attaches to the FoodSaver hose.

There are some tricks to making this container work better and last longer. One is to hand wash it, to prevent warping and wearing out of the lid or seals. It will survive the dishwasher, but those seals may not last as long if you use it all the time. Second, test the container before entrusting food to it by making a seal with the container empty and trying to open it with the tabs. If the vacuum is good, you won't be able to budge it (unless you release the flap.) Leave it alone for a few days, then try again. The seal should still hold, pretty much indefinitely. If the seal releases on its own, check the flaps and seals to make sure they are tight and clean, then try again. Out of four containers, one of my lids did not keep a seal until I rotated the flap around.

I recently purchased the Food Saver System and ordered the Deli Containers because I was always throwing out food that we could not consume quick enough. This has definitely worked very well and very effectively. I actually purchased two sets and am glad I did. I ordered the two sets after reading some reviews that it didn't hold a large amount of sandwich meat and I wanted to be sure whatever I purchased was being protected. While it is true it doesn't hold more then a lb. at a time the effectiveness is well worth every penny. I advise people to purchase two sets if you do store a lot because you have a large family. Also to protect it from any damage I hand wash in hot soapy water and do not put it in the dishwasher although it is dishwasher safe. It doesn't take a whole lot of effort to hand wash it.
