5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product! + Helpful hints.
Excellent product! I've had a Tilia FoodSaver Vac for about 5 years (I asked for it for my birthday) and have never had a problem with it. If the person who said that one corner didn't seal will check the rubber on the lid, it may have slid to one side and isn't making contact with the bag when trying to seal it. This would make it not seal completely. No one has offered...

1.0 out of 5 stars Foodsaver Warranty
Beware Foodsaver warranty. Defective new products are given the runaround, foodsaver will not replace or repair so far!!

I have been a foodsaver fan for years but my new foodsaver does not work out of the box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product! + Helpful hints., April 4, 2005

No one has offered hints to make using the Tilia FoodSaver Vac more economical or practical so here are some suggestions: (1) When making a bag, if the meat(as an example) is a steak 8 inches long, make the bag at least 12 inches long. The reason for this is that the bags can be washed and reused over and over until they're too small for anything to fit in and still seal.
(2) After sealing the bag, there is about an inch of waste bag material on the end you just sealed so take a felt tip marker and write on that end, what it is, the weight, and the date. When you open the bag to use the "meat", cut off the end you wrote on, wash the bag, reuse it and write on the new end when you seal it again. (3) For sanitary purposes even though I wash the bag, when I reuse it for meat, I wrap the meat in plastic wrap before putting it in the bag. (4) If you want to put liquid in a bag for sealing, put the liquid in a zip lock bag and freeze it and when it's frozen, take the contents out of the zip lock and put it in a Tilia FoodSaver Vac bag and seal it as you normally would. If you try to seal a liquid in the bag unfrozen, the vac will pull the liquid into the motor and ruin it. I hope this helps some of you.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite kitchen appliance!, March 22, 2005

I just love, love, love the Foodsaver (I have the V1205 in white). My Dad gave it to me because I am a Costco maniac, I love stocking up! I buy meat in bulk and vacuum pack individual servings for my husband and I. I have also used it on veggies, it is great on any food and it is so easy to use. It even used it on lettuce. It comes with bags and rolls, initially I used the bags but now I personally prefer the rolls and the rolls are actually less expensive than the bags. With the "store and cut" you can easily cut the roll to make just the right size bags for whatever you are vacuum packing. I never thought I would use it as much as I do. It is so easy to use, all you do is plug it in, seal one end, fill it and vacuum pack. Also, the cord tucks in underneath which makes it easier to store. This is great for any size family, I use it all the time for just 2 people. I wish I got it sooner. Very highly recommended! A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+

PS. The rolls are the best price at Costco! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Happy Customer!, May 22, 2005
This review is from: FoodSaver Premier Series V1205 Vacuum Sealing Kit, Black with Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
A product really worth it's cost!! I saved strawberries using the wide mouth jar sealer in a mason jar for one and one half weeks. When the berries were unsealed for use, they smelled fresh and tasted fresh picked. I used the poly bag to vaccum store hot dogs into packages of two then popped them into the freezer for storage. When I wanted to cook the hot dogs, I just slit the plastic, popped the dogs into the microwave for cooking. How easy can it get?

This is one great product if you need to store food without waste!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable value and quality!, February 24, 2006
This review is from: FoodSaver Premier Series V1205 Vacuum Sealing Kit, Black with Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
I had purchased a lower end vacuum sealing kit from another manufacturer about 3 years ago. I ended up hating to use it because it was difficult to use, was extremely noisy, and took two people to use the device.

This FoodSaver Premier Series V1205 is such a great product! It's so easy to use as well. Just put stuff in a bag, lay it across the sealing bar (whereas other sealers you had to line up "just so" and make sure it was even, putting a little lip inside the bag -- which meant having to clean this little piece often...ugh!), press down, and TA-DA, it's sealed.

It works fast. There are 3 different sealing preferences. It appeared to me that the seal was even better than my previous device.

Anything I've sealed and defrosted MAINTAINED the seal while defrosting. I didn't find this to be true in my old device by another manufacturer.

It's attractive in the kitchen. Considering this is a higher-end sealer, it's pretty light.

AND, one of my favorite things is that the electrical cord can be put in a little cubby hole on the device when not in use (I hate cords dangling all over the place!).

It was a good buy also. I found a coupon, the shipping was free, so all-in-all I saved $75 off the retail price. (I AM the internet shopping queen!).

Buy this item. It is well worth the investment.

Thanks for reading my review.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: FoodSaver Premier Series V1205 Vacuum Sealing Kit, Black with Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
i love this machine ,i love the cannisters too they work great as well. this machine also works with the rival canister set you just have to connect the tilia hoise to the rivel hose, and it will work. the only problem that i dont like is that with this model,3'' of the bag gets wasted, and these bags are expensive so it kills me to cut all that bag off, what a waste, thats the only thing i have a problem with.thats why i give it 4 out of 5 stars.

We absolutely love this machine. Especially the wine bottle stopper and jar tops. Will pay for itself in no time if you buy in bulk from a mega-center and repackage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased!, November 11, 2006
This review is from: FoodSaver Premier Series V1205 Vacuum Sealing Kit, Black with Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
We have been most pleased with our FoodSaver V1205. The delivery time was excellent. We have used it for a variet of uses, from leftovers, to quantity buying of meat, cheese, and even coffee in the canister, etc. It is quite simple to operate after viewing the accompanying DVD. We have been able to use several makes of bag materials. It has become a valuable appliance where the two of us often end up with extra quantities.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sealer, January 22, 2007
This review is from: FoodSaver Premier Series V1205 Vacuum Sealing Kit, Black with Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
When we first got this we had just gotten back from a fishing trip and had 40 pounds of fish to freeze. We expected to use it for that and then for the occasional Sams Club trip where we got a ton of stuff to save for a long time. While we did use it for those two reasons we use it for so much more. We breakup regular packs of hot dogs so they won't get slimy, we reclose potato chip bags (you don't have to vacuum, you can just seal), reclose coffee, marinate meat in the plastic vacuum container, vacuum seal wine bottles, I even brew beer and I can buy larger quantities and crack my grains then vacuum them in preweighed bags for ease. We just use it all the time for a lot of different things, its amazing. It fights freezer burn beautifully, keeps things very fresh, you can boil in its bags, its just great. Its very easy to use and we get the rolls of bags 2 or 3 at a time so they are pretty cheap too. We liked it so much after 6 months that we bought one for each of our parents for Christmas.

I am well satisfied with this product. The ONLY hesitation I have is that I have to be EXTREMELY careful when vac-packing meats - you DO NOT want any juice to get in the tubing and subsequently, the motor!
Whenever the newer model arrives on amazon, I'll probably upgrade - but for now, I am loving it !!
