4.0 out of 5 stars Bags great but expensive- look for a deal and try these saving tips

3.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly what I expected
The picture shows you are getting the foodsaver bags (with box). I received 3 rolls individuals that looked like they were cut from a larger roll. Feels like I didn't get the foodsaver bags.

FYI... I love the idea of the canisters but every one of mine broke including the replacements they sent me. I use the cracked containers for flours, sugar, Splenda, etc. but the original lids are domed and do not stack so you need a lot of space to use them this way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vacume Bag Rolls, March 15, 2007
This review is from: FoodSaver T010-00150-001 11-Inch-by-18-Foot Bag Material Roll, 3 Pack (Kitchen)
These rolls of Food Saver products are the best money can buy. Not only can you cut them to the length you need at any given size, but they are made of thicker material for better protection from freezer burn.

5.0 out of 5 stars NO MORE FREEZER BURN!, September 30, 2008

What else can be said for FoodSaver that hasn't been said before? It is a great product and I'm sorry I didn't start using it years ago.

It does seem pricey but if you've ever gone to your freezer for that expensive steak you forgot about and found it had freezer burn and unusable the steak is more expensive to toss than the cost of the bag you made. I also noticed that frozen items sealed in the FoodSaver bags tend to defrost a little quicker.

I love the 11" X 18' roll size which you can easily cut to the size you need. I have and use all of the FoodSaver products. What sold me on FoodSaver products was an infomercial I saw some years ago where they pealed and sliced an avocado and put the slices into a bag and sealed it. After being refrigerated for days the avocado didn't turn brown and was still fresh. Yes, I did try it and the claim is true.

The bags that you make from the roll are also great for marinating. The uses are almost endless. The best part is that the bags are strong enough to be washed out and reused except if they had contained meat, chicken, etc.. If an old bag is just too small to use you can cut it up and put the pieces over the sharp edges of bones before you seal it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but worth it if you use the bags carefully, September 5, 2010
This review is from: FoodSaver T010-00150-001 11-Inch-by-18-Foot Bag Material Roll, 3 Pack (Kitchen)
This is a very good product, but getting very expensive to use, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The cost is getting to be just about the same for each 15" bag as for a new glass canning jar, which can be used forever, and it's a one-time cost for the jar. Each 15" bag I make from the 11" X 18' X 3-roll package costs is 0.81 cents. I may get a couple of uses out of it if I'm careful, but then it's another 80 cents for a new bag, forever.

That said, it's also true that vac-sealing is a lot easier than canning, faster, and vac'd food tastes better than canned, so I don't intend to give it up unless I have to. I keep track of the price per bag by checking out a couple of the different 'Mall'-Marts and their cost per 15" bag. So far FoodSaver has the best quality bags, but the price may have to come down in order for folks to afford to keep using them.

Living in Florida, we have lots of fresh caught fish fillets to freeze. These bags are nice and heavy duty, which equals no freezer burn, no fishy smell, and criss cross texture to help keep them from sliding around. When we want fish we can thaw it under running water or in the sink without waterlogging the fillets. We also have a freezer full of vacuum sealed organic papaya chunks and bananas we grew out in our backyard. We pry off a piece of each every day for in our smoothie. The best part is my husband thinks it's fun to vacuum seal the bounty, so, I don't have to do it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Food Saver, September 23, 2007
This review is from: FoodSaver T010-00150-001 11-Inch-by-18-Foot Bag Material Roll, 3 Pack (Kitchen)
I just purchased a Food Saver (two, in fact - one for my sister, one for me) It took very little time to learn how to use it. I am thrilled at how well it seals in my food for the refrigerator as well as the freezer. And being able to re-use the bags is a tremendous plus. Even my nine-year-old granddaughter learned to use it with only minimal instruction. It is one of the few kitchen items that remain on my counter every day because I find so many uses for it. It is one product that is a pleasure to utilize.

Foodsaver rolls are simply the best on the market, I have tried other brands, but they do not hold the flavor of frozen foods as long as the foodsaver brand does. If you need long term freezer storage (6+ months for some foods) - use foodsaver, if you don't need to store food that long, you might find the other brands work for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product but pricey, November 9, 2010

Cut the bags long and they will last longer. Remember that you lose an inch or more every use. Yikes!

I use a paper cutter to cut the bags straight and at right angles to the sides -- and fast. Then I cut the bag open using care to cut close to the heat seal.

More later -- I am inventing something for these bags!
