5.0 out of 5 stars Food Saver Vacuum Canister 3.25 Qt; A Good Choice
I first saw these at Wal-Mart in Florida, they sell for the same price. I like the canister size, it can hold a large box of Cereal or 6 - 7 fresh beagles or a large box of instant potatoes, even big bags of cookies and keeps them from going soggy. I cut any cooking direction need from the boxes and use a rubber band to hold it to the canister. The Bulk Canisters...

cost too much and are bigger than you will need also none of them come in a 3 Quart size. This wide mouth canister is better than a Mason jar which i think doesn't comes in a 3 quart size. I now have 5 of these and will get more as needed. I figure the large bag of chocolate chips I buy at Costco will call for one. I also keep fresh French bread in one for 2 weeks just need to cut it in half so the whole loaf will fit, it remained as fresh as the day I bought it. Just remember that fresh bread needs to be refrigerated or it will grow hair even in a vacuum. Found out the hard way, lost a bunch of fresh bagels that way.

At first I thought I wouldn't be able to decide what to use this for, but right away I remembered that I just bought a six pack of onion rolls and they always seemed to have to be frozen and were just not the same later or went moldy in the fridge, so I vacuum sealed them in this and they were good to the last one with no flavor change at all. Yummy! ;7)

I purchased three of these and used them two to four times. After that, they cracked on the bottom when the vacume was applied. One broke on the second usage. I like and use the smaller versions of these and believe the manufacturer needs to make the bottom of the larger ones thicker.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Attachment for Your FoodSaver, February 4, 2006
This review is from: FoodSaver T02-0037-01 3-1/4-Quart Round Food-Storage Canister with Vacuum-Seal Lid (Kitchen)
Most of the FoodSaver appliances have an accessory port to allow the attachment of a hose to connect to various containers, such as this large canister. The 3.25 quart canister is one of the largest canisters made to go with FoodSaver appliances. You can store any dry food that fits in the container and wet foods as long as they are below the level of the vacuum port.

Once you have packaged bulk foods in one or two of these, you may find yourself buying four or six of them because the larger size is so handy. You can fit a medium size box of cereal in one, or bags of M&Ms or other chocolates, increasing the length of time you can keep them. These canisters are great for brown sugar, which tends to clump when it gets moist. You can also use these for regular sugar and other similar foods.

I recommend you use caution with flour, biscuit mix or other similar foods. If the FoodSaver sucks too much dust in it can become damaged. After you fill the canister, wait until the dust settles before pulling another vacuum on the canister.

These canisters are clear with a white lid, and look great, particularly when you have a lot of them sitting on the counter. These canisters can certainly help you get organized in the kitchen!

5.0 out of 5 stars good stuff!, August 6, 2007

We purchased 3 of these. They're G-G-G-GREAT! (Think Tony the tiger!)

Love the size. I'm convinced vacuum sealing works just as advertised. Our food lasts at least 100% longer than without.

With regards to cracking on the bottom, it does seem that if you wash these canisters in HOT HOT dishwasher water that they do have this weakness to crack. I have some older canisters which show some superficial cracking. It's not serious as it's still air tight but I can understand the concerns raised by others. We have decided to stop using the dishwasher to wash these canisters and instead use hand washing with lukewarm water.

It would be nice for the manufacturer to be using more heat resistant plastic but in the meantime, I love vacuum sealing and can't imagine living without these big canisters now! Would buy more, especially if Amazon lowers the prices on these!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, July 29, 2007

3.5 canister is most usful. Can combine several items, in separate plastic bags, in the one large canister. Since none of the canisters stack because of the domed lid, I find the larger and taller canister, with almost the same footprint as the smaller, does more for me.

..these are cracking too. What is Foodsaver's problem? This cracking of their product, which is clearly defective, has been going on for several years. HELLO???

Not too good. The containers seem to develop cracks along the bottom and then leak. The manufacturer has been OK about replacing them, but this is a real defect!!!
