I could not be happier with this Foodsaver. My intent was to reduce my trips to the grocery store, and this was absolutley the answer for me.

The unit works flawlessly on the both the bags and the canisters. I've bagged chicken, steak, and ground chuck with no hassle. (I did pat the chicken a bit with paper towels to prevent the 'juice' from getting sucked into the seal.)

I've repackaged buns and rolls into smaller portions by freezing them first before vacuuming. (Note: don't let the machine cut itself off on auto, or the frozen buns will get crushed. Just press the Seal button again to shut off manually.)

But my FAVORITE use has got to be using the canisters for sealing lettuce, celery and tomatoes. Lettuce and celery has lasted three weeks without any rusting or rot.

I've read where tomatoes last longest at room temperature, (not refrigerated), but my test tomato left out on the counter got soft and rotted while my vacuum sealed tomatoes in the refrigerator are still firm after two weeks.

Also: Any bags that weren't used for freezing meat can be reused. (I make my own from the roll; it's cheaper.)

Also: Any open chip or snack bags can be resealed without vacuuming. I even resealed the bag inside the cereal box. (using less heat.)

After inepecting all the other optons, (green bags, Everfresh containers, etc.), I'm very happy to have chosen this Foodsaver. Money well spent.

This product is very user friendly. Just one touch of a couple of buttons and it vacuums and seals all at once. The only problem with this unit is that it uses about 1 1/2" of the bag to make the seal. I don't know if this is standard for all brands or not. I'm very happy with this product and would recommend it to everyone.

I use my Food Saver almost everyday. I've saved tons of money preserving my food specially my produce. These are the Food Saver V2480 best features:

1. It seals almost any Chip bag.

2. You can avoid crushing your soft foods such as strawberries by pressing

the seal button at any time during the vacuum process.

3. The drip collector makes easy clean up and protect your machine.

4. It has storage for your roll with cutter.

I really like this item. I like to buy meat in bulk when it is on sale. I have used it quite often and I am pleased with it. The only thing thing I did not know before purchasing this product was that juicy meat has to be pre-frozen individually on like a cookie sheet before you can use the vacum sealer. Juice sucked into the machine can damage it. That is kind of annoying but it can't be helped. Everything that this machine says it will do it does perfectly for me so far. I am very pleased and do not regret the decision to purchase this machine.

I really like the latch on this model. My previous models were the ones that you had to push down on both sides and then pop buttons to release it. One broke and the other hurt my hands. The latch on this one is much easier to operate. Also, this model seems to take a seal much better.

Bought this V2480 from AMZ seller "Dealyard". Arrived on day 5 after order, good shape, free ship. The V2440 that I have used for several years is still going strong, but I wanted to have another item from the V24xx platform in my stash while they are still available. I feel that these are a better item than the newer upright version, which does not review very well. The V2480 works good, my V2440 is on standby.

Basically, the FOODSAVER system is sound and well designed EXCEPT for the canisters which often crack. Many of us have urged Tilia to upgrade the plastic canisters, and so far they have refused. I do not put the canisters in the dishwasher, or even use harsh chemicals. One canister cracked, pressurized, on the shelf after a few weeks without being moved. When you call Tilia they will let you know that there is NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND on their canisters, which tells volumes about how they view their own product.

Tilia blames their customers for the cracks. I am honestly sorry I did not heed the warnings I read by Amazon consumers before I purchased. I usually depend on Amazon customer recommendations for all my purchases. I have spent much money on Tilia accessories, and am now considering looking for another brand. Hope this helps, Ron

This food saver is the best! I use all the time for freezing a variety of things. It has gotten a lot of use and it keeps on chugging along.

I love buying in bulk on sale and taking advantage of sales on seasonal items like berries and vegetables. The FoodSaver allows me to do just that and seal them away without worry that they will be freezer-burned before I can use them. I love its versatility. It is simple to use right out of the box. I can reseal my potato chip, cereal and cracker packages to keep them fresh. The canisters are great for leftovers and the widemouth jar lid gives an extra way to keep your food fresh longer. I purchased the marinator and love it. It does exactly what is says and adds wonderful flavor to your meat in just 20 minutes! A definite thumbs up for anyone interested in preserving freshness and saving money.
