Our friends introduced us to this cooks' book and my husband and I liked it so much we rushed out and purchased it for our friends and family. It is a compilation by cooks about their love for food. It has an enjoyable global perspective as the contributor's are food bloggers from around the world. I am a vegetarian and found many recipes in all categories that I will be trying. The layout and production quality are great.

Here's a cookbook that's so much more than a collection of recipes but also fun to read thanks to all the friendly folks who write about their common interest - good food. FOODISTA BEST OF FOOD BLOGS COOKBOOK holds 100 great recipes complete with photographs of completed dishes and contributors.

No more bending over a keyboard searching the web for topnotch recipes and preparation advice. Then just when you think you might have found what you're looking for how do you know it's reliable? Thanks to a cookbook contest sponsored by foodista.com winners were announced this year at the International Food Bloggers Conference. Next, thanks to Andrews McMeel their guaranteed delicious recipes are now available in an eye-popping book also holding the winners' photos, towns of origin, and blog sites.

Now, I did say fun: who can resist a blog titled "Kiss My Spatula"? It's penned by a gal in Marin, California who "loves being in the kitchen, behind the camera, and in front of life." She offers "Fennel and Orange Salad with Toasted Hazelnuts and Cranberries," Colorful and versatile this salad is the best as a first course or a light meal on its own.

Foodista's first cookbook truly captures the diversity of the food blogging community. I particularly enjoyed the photos and personal headnotes that accompany each recipe. The recipes are innovative and the Dessert section is mouthwatering. First on my list is to make the Berry and Ricotta Danishes and the Spicy Pumpkin Carrot Muffins.

I love the idea of this book. It's great to see lots of my friends who are bloggers on the pages here and recipes by bloggers are ones that you can usually trust. I know the bloggers take a lot of responsibility for their recipes and I like that each entered their favorites for the contest. I almost find it overwhelming how many recipes I want to try in the book. I also enjoy the fact that there is such a range of recipes, so this is a great gift for people trying to explore new food options.

Of course if you like to read blogs, you will find a beautiful list of bloggers to follow. A great gift!

Food blogs are among my favorites in the blogging community so it's fun to have a cookbook that not only showcases diverse recipes from bloggers around the world but also introduces the reader to them and their passion for cooking, courtesy of Foodista.com.

I have to confess that in my first look-through of this cookbook it seemed that I would have a hard time finding anything I'd actually try because I'm more drawn to down home recipes that use ingredients I can easily find locally and don't take a lot of time or money to prepare. (I'm not a food snob so I have no problem resorting to Hamburger Helper now and then.) But, as I read through the book a second time I did find several recipes that would fit with my family's tastes while not breaking my food budget or require detective work to find certain ingredients in the rural community in which I live.

The recipes run the gamut of unusual offerings such as Bacon Caramels (yes, caramel candy with bacon), Salmon Head Soup, and Homemade Tagliatelle with Wild Boar Stew and a few other dishes I didn't recognize, to those I will actually try such as Ancient Grains Bread, Cranberry Crumb Bars, Triple Citrus Cake, and Baked Lentil Cheeseburgers. I did make the Chicken and White Bean Chili, omitting the ground and fresh coriander because I didn't have any on hand, and substituting frozen diced green peppers for the fresh with good results.

This is a cookbook for more adventurous cooks who like to try new recipes with an exotic or international flair, but the directions seem clear enough for a novice cook to navigate. I think the main challenge may be finding some of the ingredients if one doesn't have easy access to specialty markets.
