This is an excellent product; someone made the comment to be careful because of elevated levels of HA in cancer related events.

Here is a clarification on this subject.

Hyaluronic acid is produced continually throughout life, more so when very young and during pregnancy, when cancer rates are almost nonexistent. Yet the opinion prevails that somehow, taking oral HA might cause cancer.

For the naïve viewer of the medical literature, there are many reports indicating elevated levels of HA are associated with the spread of tumors, what is called invasion. Tumor cells can mobilize and spread (become metastatic) by using HA as a kind of biological "slide and slide." However, taking oral HA supplements has little to do with this biological phenomenon. More HA shows up at tumor site because it is a healing agent. Anywhere there is a wound in your body, cells called fibroblasts make more HA.

A recent study, conducted by researchers in Finland , investigated the role of hyaluronic acid in squamous cell carcinoma (oral cancer). "At the end of the follow-up (median 52 months) 43% of patients had died because of this type of cancer. A significant difference in overall survival and disease free survival was noticed between the patients with the different epithelial staining patterns for HA. The reduction of HA staining was associated with poor survival . These results suggest that HA is a prognostic marker in oral squamous cell carcinoma."

Notice the words "prognostic marker." Since more HA is produced in tissues that are damaged by trauma, burns, toxic chemicals, or tumors, broken down (degraded) HA can be used to detect or measure the progression of tumors. This is akin to fire fighters who show up at fires.

Hard to say if hyaluronic acid is helping my joints more than straight glucosamine, but it has definately darkened my hair and decreased the lines in my face. I've heard of this phenomenon from other users. It's called a side effect :-)

I'm a 69 year old scientist and have been taking 1 capsule per day for 6 weeks for the cosmetic benefits. I'm pleased to report that my skin has become significantly more elastic and the age spots are fading.

A simple test for skin tone is to pull skin away from the back of the hand, then release it and let it settle back down. Before HA, my skin took several seconds to settle back down. Now it takes about a second, like the skin of a much younger person.

UPDATE: After 12 weeks, most of the age spots have gone. Those that remain are significantly faded.

I don't recall my reason for purchasing this the first time, but I do know why I keep buying it. My husband and I are both in our 70s, and wear glasses for close and distance viewing. I hadn't been using the HA long when I started having difficulty seeing the tv, and when I took off my glasses, it was clear that I didn't need them to watch. My husband plays golf, and was irritated to have to wear glasses to see where his ball landed, so he wanted to try the hyaluronic acid also. Unfortunately for us, he had just spent $$ on a new scrip for sunglasses. It wasn't long before he stopped wearing them, and swears that it is the HA. That is one supplement he won't go without, and we now order it on Amazon's subscription plan so we never run out.

ha or hyaluronic acid is natural and is produced by our bodies in abundance when we are young. Stress and just
living depletes the supply. It is needed in our joints and even in the retina of our eyes. I am 93 years young and
take suppelments for sore joints in my fingers . I was so pleased to find a product that has 100 mg of HA. The one
I was taking had only 4mg. There is a very well known doctor in Eu. that is treating macular degeneration, successfully
with this supplement,

I read somewhere that one has to be taking Hyaluronic Acid for a few months to notice a difference. I've been taking it now, faithfully (200 mg per day) for the past 2 months. I started taking it for cosmetic purposes (my skin) only. I have no problem with my joints. According to what I've read online...it's supposed to be great for skin/wrinkles. I'm 43 (female) and thought I'd take it for preventative measures as well as to improve a few crows feet around my eyes. I haven't noticed any difference in my skin...but I did notice this: my hair is no longer coming out in the shower! Before using this product..I was losing quite a bit of hair when I washed it....there would be tons of hair all between my fingers every single time and my once thick beautiful hair was starting to feel a little thin. Not good. So there I am a few weeks ago in the shower...and there was no hair coming out!! Now when I wash my hair...maybe just a few (normal) come out. Could it be a coincidence??? My hair also feels thicker and looks thicker as well. For that reason, I'll continue using this product. I'll write an update, if I notice anything down the road with my skin.
