Can't beat it for the price,

This review is from: NOW Foods Organic Cocoa Powder Pure, 12 Ounce Can (Pack of 4) (Grocery)
This is the best and best-tasting organic cocoa powder available for the price. That said, it can be found at a better price than Amazon is currently asking. This is NOT hot chocolate. It is pure organic cocoa powder without added sweetener of any kind which means you can add your own sweetener of choice in the amount you like. This cocoa powder is also great for baking. It mixes easily with water and other liquids if you go about it in the right way: place the desired amount of cocoa powder in a glass or cup, then add a small amount of liquid, hot or cold, stir well till smooth, then add the rest of the liquid and stir again. I use protein drinks daily and prefer chocolate to vanilla but no longer purchase the chocolate flavored protein powders. I get better results by using vanilla protein powder, adding 1 or 2 tsp of NOW Cocoa Powder to the protein powder and then adding liquid and mixing as described above. I trust this brand over whatever generic cocoa powder the chocolate protein powders contain. The protein drink can be improved even more by adding a teaspoon or so of Udo's Choice Wholesome Fast Food Udo's Choice Wholesome Fast Food 16-Ounces before mixing with liquid. That product has almost no taste of its own but is a great way of adding much needed fiber to one's diet and as a bonus makes mixing of the protein powder with liquid much easier - - - no blender required, just mix as above, wait about 5 minutes then drink and enjoy. Update 05/20/2011: Since I wrote this review Amazon.com has increased its price on this item even more, to the point that it is outrageous. Almost all my purchases are made on Amazon.com, but I refuse to pay almost $9 for 12 oz of this excellent brand of organic cocoa powder when it is available elsewhere for $5.50 or less if you take the time and trouble to search for it. And to Amazon.com I inquire, "Why, why why are you doing this?"

Cocoa for health...,

This review is from: NOW Foods Organic Cocoa Powder Pure, 12 Ounce Can (Pack of 4) (Grocery)
QUALITY= I use this product for the pure organic quality.TASTE= If the intention is to add sweetners then you might as well get hot chocolate. This does not taste great at all as a drink to say the least, but it tastes fine with the protein drink that I make. MIXING= It does not mix well by itself. It mixes well when I make a protein drink by adding the protein mix. In that case it is a very easy mix with a very good taste. I have tried other cocoas and do not mix well at all, this is the best I have experienced. QUALITY= The Dutch process is a better process since apparently it is suppose to retain more antioxidants than the American process but Dutch is more expensive. CONCLUSION= For antioxidants, pure cocoa with no added sweetener of any sort or form, this organic cocoa is priced reasonably. GET ORGANIC UN-HULLED SEEDS THAT HAVE NUTRITIONAL VALUE SINCE HULLED SEEDS ARE EMPTY CALORIES, WORTHLESS... I have been consuming seeds for years. Unfortunately in the beginning not too many people knew (infact they still don't) that seeds like flax seed and sesame seed have no nutritional value unless; 1. Seeds are fresh, not old and rancid, 2. Grinded in a coffee grinder, 3. Consumed within few days, 4. Kept in the freezer, 5. Kept in a dark place not exposed to light, 6. Oils and supplements are worthless since it goes rancid. So for few years although I consumed those seeds, I got no nutritional value out of it till I learned the above pointers. I can not grind sesame seed in the grinder since it is so oily that ruins the grinder and flax seed is the best balancer for grinding. Regardless of that, I have to consume both seeds due to the high mineral content which is a necessity for my healthy diet. For years I have been doing blood test and my omega-3 has been much higher than the highest level required for my age, year after year. Although I consume fish, it is the flax seed that pushes my omega-3 higher. I mix all of the following ingredients with organic soy milk and consume it before my workouts on daily basis to feel full and have all the necessary vitamins and minerals without much spike in my glucose, fat or calories; 1. Sesame seed for calcium, iron, copper, manganese, protein, phytosterols and host of other minerals and vitamins (3 spoons) AMAZON DOES NOT SELL ANY UN-HULLED ORGANIC 2. Flax seed for omega-3 fatty acids with no cholesterol, to increase good cholesterol HDL (3 spoons) Bob's Red Mill Organic Whole Flaxseed Brown, 24-Ounce Packages (Pack of 4) 3. Cocoa for antioxidants instead of eating chocolate with sugar and unnecessary additional additives (2 spoons) Cocoa Powder Organic 12 Ounces 4. Protein isolate for a complete amino acid chain without the fat, cholesterol and extra calories (4 spoons) NOW Foods Whey Protein Isolate, 100% Pure 5Lb

I use organic cocoa in shakes every morning and like to control amount of sweetening I add. This is an excellent, healthy product sold at a great price.
