Recently I embarked on a journey for the holiest of holies. The holy grail of bowel movements, if you will: one which results in a "ghost wipe". A wise woman once said "Nothing is as overrated as sex, and as underrated as a good bowel movement." While I can't completely agree with that, I will say this: These pills are saving me tens of dollars every year on toilet paper.
Tell me, human, does your day not seem brighter when you wipe, look at your toilet paper and realize it was a clean break?
I take 4 in the morning and 4 at night with copious amounts of water and this seems to do the trick. Bravo, psyllium husk.

This is an indelicate subject for an open online review, I know, but someone has to do it. This is about hemorrhoids and their treatment with psyllium fiber (ie. serious business).
I have been using Metamucil psyllium capsules for several years now. It was originally purchased with the hope that its consumption with my lunch would limit my appetite and help control my weight. In so doing I also discovered that it helps to keep my hemorrhoids at bay. Subsequently I have learned from experience that not taking these Metamucil psyllium capsules leads to aggravated hemorrhoid problems in a matter of just a few days. We are talking about significant and noticeable discomfort here.
Thus I have been buying Metamucil psyllium capsules from Costco for years and my ass has been happier ever since.
So what's the problem? Well Metamucil psyllium capsules are very expensive, even from Costco. That's where the Now Foods, Psyllium Husk Caps came into this not so pretty picture.
I was hoping that I could save 50% on psyllium fiber capsules from Now Foods and get exactly the same results. Sadly, this proved not to be the case.
Similar to what had occurred in the past (when I failed to consume my Metamucil pills for just a few days), I had the same experience after eating the Now Foods, Psyllium Husk Caps in lieu of the Metamucil psyllium capsules. It was as if I had taken nothing at all even though I consumed exactly the same quantity I had been taking of the Metamucil pills.
Hard to believe I know, but butts do not lie. Mine complained rather quickly (ie. after just a few days). And it took about a week after reverting back to the Metamucil capsules before it got back to normal.

This has got to be the best invention, second to digestive enzymes! Take them with almost every meal. Two with very heavy meals. Never a problem. Between the Now Psyllium Husk Caps.fiber & Enzymedica Digest GOLD Digestive Enzymes, we never have stomach aches, bloating or indigestion! (Even if we eat an occasional greasy, fried meal!) You have got to try them, you'll never go back! Promise! BRAVO!

I bought these in place of the powder that you make into shakes. I couldn't keep the shakes down, and the capsules have worked wonderfully. If interested, I would definitely recommend them. They aren't any bigger than most vitamins, and should be taken one at a time with a total of 14 ounces of water. That's worked for me. Hope this was helpful.

I thought I was crazy until I read George's review above. As a post gastric bypass patient I had problems with constipation for the first time in my life. My doctor recommended psyllium & after 3 days of taking the Metamucil brand psyllium capsules I became a believer! Not to be indelicate, but there was no strain, no stress. Every morning (without fail) I would have a nice fat bowel movement. It is a little pricey though, so I was very happy when I discoverd the NOW brand on Amazon for a fraction of the cost. Well, all it took was two days & it was like I hadn't taken anything. It's been 3 months since that experience, & I've gotten my husband using psyllium too, so I decided to try the WOW one more time. Same non-results. We started the bottle a little over a week ago & I haven't had a good bm since. My husband has noticed it too. Yes, NOW is cheaper, but if it doesn't work, you're throwing your money away.

A family member suffered severe constipation for over 2 years. After several procedures, two emergency room trips, and many medications, the doctors said there was nothing else they could do for him -- except, of course, continue the medications (that were not working). Finally, I convinced him to take 2 caps, 3x/day. Since he started 6 months ago, he has never been more regular. No problems. And he's happier. = )
