3.0 out of 5 stars Better than others
Have tried a couple other straw type cups and what I like better about this one is it doesn't allow the pressure inside to push the drink back out through the straw when it's sitting idle. Convenient for outings since it stays cold much longer than other insulated types and the lid is empowering for my 2yr old who likes to control whether it's open or closed. I also...

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking for a non-leaching cup? THIS ONE'S THE BEST!, March 29, 2008

This review is from: Foogo by Thermos Leak-Proof SS 12 oz Straw Bottle in Blue (Baby Product)
When I decided to eliminate using plastic cups for my kids because of worries about plastics leaching, I didn't realize how difficult it would be to find a GOOD non-plastic cup, especially for a 1-year-old! My son still doesn't know how to open it by himself, but that's okay because he just brings it over to me when he needs a drink - and he loves to close it by himself, so if he ends up throwing it on the floor sideways, it doesn't leak. (On the occasions where it has been thrown down with the top open, sometimes it leaks and sometimes it doesn't.) It keeps water nice and cold and my little guy loves drinking from a straw. This has been, by far, the best of the cups I've come across. Others I tried were Sigg (the WORST - the paint chips off and when I contacted the company I purchased it from, they said that's normal for Siggs, but that the paint is non-toxic! Non-toxic or not, I don't want my baby ingesting paint!), Klean Kanteen (my 2nd favorite - I love it except for that it is not insulated and unless you use a sleeve, freezing to pick up), the Foogo sippy cup with handles (which I was thrilled with right at first, but the more it was used the more it leaked until it was not even useable because my son was drenched every time he used it!) and the Safe Sippy (nice, except for the rubber sleeve, which I thought was built-on, but it can come off, so I have to take it off when cleaning and it is HARD to get back on!) This cup is great and I am so, so happy with it!

4.0 out of 5 stars replacement straws?, May 1, 2007

These bottles are convenient - keeping beverages cool with no spills. But, the soft straw is vulnerable to chewing (what small child doesn't like to chew on things?) and replacements are difficult to obtain. Have not found a retailer that carries them and I have tried numerous times to order replacements directly from Thermos, but have given up on their customer service line after holding for 30+ minutes. Cleaning presents a minor challenge - must fit dishcloth or other cleaning implement through narrow opening as dishwashing is not recommended.

I also think he's more drawn to it because it's rather adult-like, but the drawbacks are true re: getting replacement straws are not convenient, the straw inside will unattach (we noticed it happens when the thermos gets dropped), but we just unscrew and reattach. There is leakage from the straw if turned upside down or thrown down with the lid open but I haven't found a straw cup that doesn't do this, so I need to determine what the next important thing for me and it's that it didn't puddle up while sitting on the floor. I do want to get more of these because they do to work for our child better than the ohers we tried.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Bisphenol-A free straw sippy cup, February 20, 2008
This review is from: Foogo by Thermos Leak-Proof SS 12 oz Straw Bottle in Blue (Baby Product)
When I found out that our favorite Nuby straw sippy cups were leaching chemicals, I went on a hunt to find the best Bisphenol-A free straw sippy cup to replace our beloved Nuby ones. We tried cups by Sassy, Munchkin, Sigg, and the Foogo Thermos cup. The Foogo Thermos cup was overall the best cup. It doesn't leek, my toddler loves opening and closing it, it comes in pink (which she loves), and it holds the same fluid ounces as the Nuby.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bottle, August 31, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Foogo by Thermos Leak-Proof SS 12 oz Straw Bottle in Blue (Baby Product)
This is a great bottle w/ straw, and I love the fact that it is not plastic (except for lid and straw), especially after hearing that plastics can leach harmful chemicals like bisphenol-A. I received it yesterday and my 3-year old son absolutely loves it. It is toprack dishwasher safe (see instructions that come with it) and it clearly states that "This product is leak-proof only when the lid is in the closed and locked position". But this is no problem as my son love opening and closing it anyway ... it has a neat yellow button to press. I ordered the sippy cup for my daughter ... but haven't received it yet.

1.0 out of 5 stars Design Defect Causes Leaks, September 20, 2008
By
This review is from: Foogo by Thermos Leak-Proof SS 12 oz Straw Bottle in Blue (Baby Product)
I purchased two of these for my twin Kindergarteners. I love the concept. However, the product design needs tweaking. This container has four pieces--the bottle, the cap, the sipper, and a long straw that extends into the bottle. The sipper has a teeny tiny hole in it so that air can get in and make sucking through the straw possible. If the sipper is the slightest bit off center, the teeny tiny plug in the cap does not fit into it. The result is leaking into the lunch box. (At present, I'm soaking a vinyl lunch box that stinks of mold from milk that leaked out of this bottle). Every morning, I fill two of these bottles and have to test them to make sure that everything is lined up and the product isn't leaking. Many mornings, I must make multiple adjustments in the position of the sipper so that the bottle doesn't leak. I even tried replacing the sipper part and it did not fix the problem. The problem is not chew holes in the sipper--I tested for that and there are none. I do not recommend this product due to the frustration of adjusting it repeatedly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended with Extra Straws, May 27, 2008
By
Mom of 3! (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Foogo by Thermos Leak-Proof SS 12 oz Straw Bottle in Blue (Baby Product)
I own 2 of these. One for each child. I use these thermos' on a daily basis. We take them whenever we go out. I love them. My kids love them. It is great to not have to worry about milk spoiling too soon or stopping off somewhere to buy drinks. I sometimes add ice into the thermos' to be sure the drinks will stay cool longer. In the first 2 weeks of owning this, the straws broke. I initially was disappointed but did realize that they broke while my husband was handling them (he would drop the straw on the ground when he pulled off the top of the thermos). I called the customer service line and purchased 10 straws (1.00 each plus shipping cost). I received these in less than 1 week. I thought I was only getting the straw part, but they sent the whole unit (sippy part included). I have not needed to replace my straws since! I just use the extras when I don't want to spend time washing the used ones right away. So, I highly recommend getting the extra straws. Also, to clean the straw unit, I have a tiny brush that fits into it. My MIL gave them to me. Apparently, it comes with some denture cleaning products. This is really good to have for cleaning purposes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great thought, not practical, September 26, 2007

We purchased this item last month for our daughter to use at school. The plastic straw has already broken off and she dropped the bottle once and the lid cracked in half. We understand that these things happen, but we also expect a little more from an established company like Thermos. Called customer service and no parts available. They are still waiting. I'm sure it's a long trip from China. The idea is great. Keeps liquid cold. Doesn't seem to be made to last. You will probably end up paying a lot for parts and it will end up in a garage sale next year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than a sippy cup, November 19, 2008
By
Master Potter (New York, New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Foogo by Thermos Leak-Proof SS 12 oz Straw Bottle in Blue (Baby Product)
We've had one for about 8 months now. When we first bought it, my son was about 14 months old and not really liking the traditional sippy cup. He loves to push the button to open it and snap it shut to close. The straw is really soft and surprisingly just about the only thing he *doesn't* chew on!
It's very durable and despite some nicks and scratches, it's held up remarkably well against my now 22 month old toddler. After 8 months of constant use and frequent dishwasher (top rack) cleanings the inside parts need replacing. I just called the 1-800 number (in the first review)to order more parts expecting them to be about as much as the bottle itself, but no! The 3-part inside component (sippy straw, under-lid disc & hard straw) cost only $1.00 each!! I ordered 4 (hey, you never know) and including shipping my total order was $7.00.
