5.0 out of 5 stars fools rush in
I find it questionable that anyone would go online to savage someone's book. Why not spend the time and energy praising the merit of a book one has enjoyed? Having said that, I would like to weigh in as a fan of Susan Whitcher's THE FOOL REVERSED. 2.0 out of 5 stars first love deceived
Sex scenes are not graphic, but are unsettling, BUT!....teens are having to face these issues on a more regular basis, and why not in books written for them with a lesson included? I think this book teaches a lesson about not getting involved in a relationship with an older man. But instead of finding herself on her own she falls immediately into another relationship...

I find it questionable that anyone would go online to savage someone's book. Why not spend the time and energy praising the merit of a book one has enjoyed? Having said that, I would like to weigh in as a fan of Susan Whitcher's THE FOOL REVERSED. To my mind it is a captivating, well-written novel which, in addition to its entertainment value, serves as a sharply realized cautionary tale for today's youth. As a teacher, I have witnessed more than my share of Annas, and my respect for Ms. Whitcher stems largely from her refusal to shy away from a situation which less gifted writers would avoid. If sheltered sensibilities find the material uncomfortable or objectionable, then so be it. Many situations in life are uncomfortable and objectionable, but they still must be dealt with. In essence, I applaud Susan Whitcher for this edgy but compassionate contribution to Young Adult fiction.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty engaging, October 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Fool Reversed (Hardcover)
At its basic level, this is a story of a young girl who foolishly lets herself be decieved and used by an older man. I enjoyed the fact that she actually did realize her mistake unlike most teens today refuse to.Anna [the young girl] is very smart though and I found the book entertaning.I finished it in one day.

I think this book teaches a lesson about not getting involved in a relationship with an older man. But instead of finding herself on her own she falls immediately into another relationship. I found that a disappointment. The ending was a little unbelievable. But all in all I would recommend it to older ya readers. -YA Librarian

5.0 out of 5 stars I could not put this book down., July 3, 2000
This review is from: The Fool Reversed (Hardcover)
I cannot say how much I enjoyed this book. Although some people were obviously offended by it, I found it to be a beautiful and touching story of a young girl that I could completely relate to. It's one of those books that I will keep forever and read over and over again and then give to my daughter one day. This novel is honest, truthful, and original and will stay with you long after you finish reading it.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Fool Reversed, May 3, 2000

This review is from: The Fool Reversed (Hardcover)
this is one of the most beautiful book ive ever read, you'll swept into the story of Anna and her problems with her boyfriend Thorn. You'll witness how Anna has so much problems with Thorn that she doesn't even notice that Dylan, a boy who has a crush on her, is waiting for his moment to get anna to notice him. At first this book is a little dull, but in the end it turns out beautiful.

2.0 out of 5 stars read Francesca Lia Block instead, June 10, 2000
This review is from: The Fool Reversed (Hardcover)
This book has basically no substance whatsoever. It's Sweet Valley High goes to the vintage clothing shop. I didn't find the characters partiularly unique or likeable, and Whitcher's writing is mediocre at best. If you're looking for something along similiar subject lines, but written in beautiful prose with engaging chacters, pick up something by the fabulous Ms. Block.

1.0 out of 5 stars trash, May 16, 2000
This review is from: The Fool Reversed (Hardcover)
This is trash for young adults disguised in fantasy so that this awful writer can...get away with filtering in statutory rape, threesomes, illicit sex and disdain for any thing moral. So badly written...Kirkus is right on, this one is dressed in dirty modern clothes. Whitcher insults the intelligence and even the good judgement of young adults.
