My boyfriend bought this for me yesterday because he happened to come across it and thought of me. I had never heard Daniel's solo stuff before, only Bauhaus, Love and Rockets and Tones on Tail, all of whom I love. I put this on while making lunch today and was unsure what to expect, and I am glad to report that I think it is a fantastic album. I should have known it would be; we can always expect the best from Danny Ash.

Being that "Daniel Ash" was the singer for "Love & Rockets", this sounds alot like that group, which is totally fine with me. In fact, this is very similar to L&R's "Earth Sun Moon" and self titled albums, both are excellent. Any fan of those should easily like this. A few of these tracks are the best I've heard from him. "Foolish Thing Desire" is a wonderful lush song, and I really love "Dream Machine" and "Bluebird" too. As far as solo albums go, I don't rate many much "Higher Than This".
