I received this product yesterday, and tried it out immediately. It has a much more powerful action than the Homedics spa it replaced, and the heater is very good at quickly returning the water to the desired temperature. I have had a job for the last nineteen years that requires me to stand on my feet for the majority of my workday. Recently, I noticed that at the end of my shift my feet HURT more than usual. They began to throb. Two weeks ago I decided to purchase a whirlpool foot spa similar to the one at the salon where I get my pedicures. I wanted to pamper and rejuvenate my arhing feet at home at my own convenience without the added cost of going to the nail shop. My criterion: (1)water level deep enough to immerse my ankles, (2)powerful water jets, and (3)a heating element that would enable the water to stay heated for periods up to two hours. The Aqua-Jet Foot Spa has met all my requirements. In addition, the handles make it very easy to move and lift the spa when full. This unit is a bit more expensive than the other foot spas on the market, however, well worth the money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Satisfied, April 23, 2006

My wife wanted a foot spa and I began my search via the web and noticed that most people weren't pleased with their foot spas they complained of loud noises, jets (i.e. bubbles) were not powerful, or just plain cheap.I decided to give Sharper Image or Brookstone a try. Sharper Image claimed that their spa kept the water warm but were out of stock (a good sign) but I wanted one immediately and gave Brookstone a try. My wife loved it! She frequents the nail salons for pedicures and stated that this machine was just like the ones at the salon in regards to features and comfort. She was VERY thankful. I have also experienced the jets and the water temperature and it works as advertised. You won't be dissatisfied. There are cheaper ones but IMHO this is worth the money. Enjoy.

I received this product yesterday, and tried it out immediately. It has a much more powerful action than the Homedics spa it replaced, and the heater is very good at quickly returning the water to the desired temperature. The foot rollers are pretty useless, as stated by a previous reviewer. I was disappointed to learn that I cannot put in any salts or soaks--even though the Amazon site has them listed under the spa. Brookstone's customer service told me I can't even put any liquid soap in, or the jets may clog. This takes a lot away from the pleasure of the home pedicure, hence my rating of only 3 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars well worth it., July 19, 2006
This review is from: Foot Baths - heated foot bath (Health and Beauty)
after carefull review of several brands and types of these I bought this on based on the reviews. dead -on! I'm glad I spent a little more because I feel like it is a good quality product.
I just got it last night and I cant wait to get home and use it again tonight. I have a typeII ankle sprain and a high ankle sprain and have been wearing foot braces for months and this is just what I needed.
Its not deep enough to cover my entire ankle, but for a guy with size 12 feet it is plenty big enough.
this thing is huge! water temp got very warm and the jets worked great.

3.0 out of 5 stars Feels great, but the effort is taxing, January 18, 2009
This review is from: Foot Baths - heated foot bath (Health and Beauty)
I know - my husband's lazy. But that's just when he gets home. He's on his feet all day, so I thought that he would love a foot spa for Christmas. I did my research, and found this spa to be the highest rated, more bang for the buck. I was a bit wary shelling out as much as I did for this spa, when I could've experimented with the $40 spa around the corner at Bed, Bath & Beyond, but this looked to be the master of foot spas before you get to detoxification.
A few things you should know before you buy this:
1. You cannot use any bath oil or salts. Don't be tempted by the upsale on your screen flaunting them in the herd instinct. Everyone who buys this foot bath with those tantalizing salts realizes when they actually look at the foot spa manual that you can't use them. You will risk ruining the product. If you don't like the luxury of add in products, then you're in the right place.
2. It takes FOREVER to heat. I mean it. My husband, though a sentient of patience at his job, just wants to relax when he gets home. A half an hour to heat seems a little much. In his view, it takes too long. If you want to do yourself or your loved one a favor, heat it up 30 min. before you plan to get it. Personally, I dump the salts in the bath and save myself some time.
3. The foot bath itself is ginormous. That can be a good thing if you have larger feet and want to save yourself from buying another product and having to send it back. However, it's bulky to store and hard to clean. My husband just left it in the hallway ;o(. For a petite lady like me, that meant I had to haul it up to the bathtub to dump it. And he hasn't used it since.
4. Don't be fooled by the lure of the "massagers". They're rollers at the bottom of the spa, that you have to move with your feet. Lame! The jets, however, were quite nice.

In summary, this product lacks the luxury of the advertised spa. It's bulky, takes a long time to heat, and it's not cheap either. While I'm known for my knack for getting a good deal, sometimes you just have to ask someone personally how they like it. For me, it's a small price to pay for the knowledge considering I'm just going to buckle down and buy that hot tub after all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great bath with minor cons, feels wonderful, July 13, 2009
This review is from: Foot Baths - heated foot bath (Health and Beauty)
We've owned this foot bath for well over a year. My husband bought it for me and picked it up at the Brookstone store, not online. Here's the pros and cons.

Pros:
-feels wonderful, soothing, and really relaxes tired feet
-Heats up beautifully...it will get HOT so I turn the heat on and off occasionally.
-Solid and well-made
-The remote is very convenient! (They only thing the remote doesn't control is how much air flow is in water.)
-Really improves my husband's recent foot aches and problems (we think plantar fasciitis). We bought this before we knew of it. He says it really helps + stretching + quality foot inserts.
-Depth of foot area is fine for me (U.S. size 10 women's and my husband U.S. 11)
-Well worth the money, I am worried about even trying out a spa's foot bath: who knows what diseases are in there!

Cons:
-With water, it is heavy and you have to be able to lift it in and out of the sink to your destination
-I lightly rested my feet on top of the blue insert one day and was barely putting any weight on it and it now has a hairline crack.
-Would be better with a 'foot bath' boy to lug it around for you.
-I find I can only use this for 25-30 minutes max and my feet will start becoming swollen or irritated, so that's what I do. I use it for a short time, dry off, put on quality foot cream and socks, and relax!
-I removed the loofah-like insert as I noticed it caught water underneath it (even when bath was empty) and created mold.

TIPS:
-Never think of leaving water in it for an extended period of time. I got lazy for a while and left water in there for a week or so and man did I come back to a science experiment and the smell too! This needs to be emptied after every use or at least once every 24 hours. I recommend when you're done with it, to empty, rinse, and drain immediately. Remember anywhere water is, so could mold.

-Rinse out thoroughly and clean out with Softscrub with Bleach + HOT water occasionally (doesn't need it every time). Really rinse it out because the bottom has a well of somekind.

-Never wear shedding socks before using this. I did that once with fluffy socks and all the little cotton bits were annoying to get out.

Summary:

It has pros and cons, for us we think it's worth-while for the bliss it provides. Cleaning and transporting is not fun but that could be with any foot bath. I decided not to get a cheap one as the reviews were all junky and poor. I hope it lasts a long time!

1.0 out of 5 stars Stopped working after 3 uses, December 14, 2009

This review is from: Foot Baths - heated foot bath (Health and Beauty)
It must be very difficult to make a reliable foot spa. Noting the high failure rate described in reviews of other models, I bought this one for my wife. I concluded that the much higher price of this Brookstone model would be worth paying if the unit would last and perform better.

It did not. The first three times she used it, it worked well: it heated the water, the jets and remote operated correctly, and, although she didn't care for the bubbles, they functioned.

The next time she plugged it in, the unit failed to heat the water and would not change jet speeds.

We called the Brookstone service line; the agent told us to bring it to the nearest store for replacement. However, the sales managers at the Dulles Town Center store in Virginia curtly refused to cooperate, or even to contact customer service to work out an arrangement.

I'm willing to pay a premium for the promise of better functionality, higher reliability, and better service. Brookstone failed to deliver on this promise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another positive review..., November 20, 2007

Like many others, I chose this product based on all the positive reviews about it. Not only were there more reviews for this product than for most of the other units, all of them were positive. Having bought and used it now, I have to agree. I am adding my recommendation to the others. It is a great product. Though it is a bit pricey compared to the many, many other models to choose from, I don't regret spending the money for it. It is everything I expected. It heats the water from room temperature, and maintains the temperature comfortably. The water jets are powerful, and the unit is relatively quiet. I have nothing but praise for this product.

First, this is a big and cumbersome.... but second, this is the best foot spa. Got it for the wife and had to try it myself. I am a wuss when it comes to super hot temps and I had to ease into the heat, it stayed hot the entire time. The jets were nice and the wireless remote is priceless (just make sure its in your hand when you sit down so you don't have to move an inch :) ). The rollers on the bottom are nice too. It gets loud when on high-jets mode, but nothing to grand. Fast shipper, would recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost worth the full price..., December 2, 2006
This review is from: Foot Baths - heated foot bath (Health and Beauty)
The Aqua-Jet Foot Spa does have some great qualties. Such as the rotatable aqua jets, which work really well. They only have two in the front where your toes are though. I wish they had something else in the back. Overall the spa does what it says but the massage nodes that help relieve stress are hard too feel when you roll your feet over them. It was kinda of a struggle to do and I had a friend try it and she had said the same. The heater does work well as long as you put luke warm water to start with. If your are looking for a relaxing foot treatment that practically knocks you out from relaxation, this is it. It may just be a little too pricy.
