5.0 out of 5 stars Footfighting Manual Impressive, July 6, 2001

This review is from: Foot-Fighting Manual for Self-Defense and Sport Karate (Fred Neff's Self-Defense Library) (Library Binding)
Fred Neff's Footfighting Manual presents with specificity a great variety of foot maneuvers that can be used in fighting. The book sets a proper foundation with basic stretching exercises for conditioning and then goes on to breakdown the kicks in progressive order of their difficulty. Each kick is taught through a series of learning steps with accompanying pictures. Having studied karate now for over three years, I was very impressed with the way the author organized and presented the vital area of kicking. It has helped me not only learn some new foot maneuvers, but improve the kicks that I earlier learned. The manual is simple enough for a beginner to learn foot maneuvers, yet has enough depth to continue to be useful as a person continues his or her study. It is an excellent book to use as a resource to improve kicking techniques.

5.0 out of 5 stars The use of the foot as a weapon revealed, March 9, 2007
This review is from: Foot-Fighting Manual for Self-Defense and Sport Karate (Fred Neff's Self-Defense Library) (Library Binding)
Spectacular kicks are the mainstay of many action movies, yet in reality they like throwing seem to be mysterious to most people. The Foot-Fighting Manual for Self-Defense and Sport Karate answers what you want to know about kicking in one clear easy to understand book. It provides everything you need to get started learning to do kicks. Provided are conditioning exercises, fighting stances, answers to common questions about foot fighting, safety considerations, foot positions for kicking, beginning kicks, intermediate kicks and advanced kicks. The book helps build the reader's skill progressively through its lessons that are very easy to understand. Each kick first has a general explanation followed by learning steps with matching pictures. The Foot-Fighting Manual by Fred Neff is a well done work and I strongly recommend it.
