Editorial Reviews

Product Description

European 2009 release from the Norwegian trio, their ninth studio album in an illustrious 25 year career. Opening with the galloping charge of 'The Bandstand', the album quickly defines itself with the keyboard intro before Morten's instantly recognizable vocals announce their return. Melting into the Arcade Fire influenced 'Riding The Crest' which Paul describes as 'Electro Blues', the album flows into the melancholic 'What There Is' before thundering back into the stunning single and title track 'Foot Of The Mountain'. With other tracks like 'Shadowside' and 'Sunny Mystery' incorporating the most driving and contagious beats and lyrics of A-Ha's career, Foot Of The Mountain is an album that cements A-Ha's position in the world of pop. Recorded between Autumn 2008 and Spring 2009 in New York, Oslo, Hamburg, Stockholm and Bath, alongside producers Steve Osborne, Erik Ljunggren, Roland Spremberg and Mark Saunders. Universal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another fantastic album, June 15, 2009
By jph "jph" (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews
Yet another great a-ha album. This time, with a throw back to their earlier sound- but very modern and definitely not a copy of anything they've already done. Morten has one of the best voices ever in pop music and a-ha have been producing some great music for years. It's so frustrating that America considers them a " one hit wonder." I agree with another reviewer- poor marketing keeps them out of the American spotlight. I've been saying it for the past four albums-- but I bet this one would do really well in America if America knew it existed. I'm American and when I talk about a-ha, most people don't even know that they're still around. Very strange. Just keep talking about it...maybe it will catch on.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best album of A-ha, June 11, 2009
By Felix Rodriguez Ocasio "stitch" (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The album marks a return to the classic pop sound that made a-ha one of the biggest acts in the world. The ten new songs carry echoes of the band's early signature hits: 'Take On Me', 'The Sun Always Shines On TV' and 'I've Been Losing You'.
If you like the first album Hunting High and Low and Mayor Earth Minor Sky, You will love this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, June 11, 2009
What a fantastic album, start to finish. Possibly the world's best (and certainly most underrated!) pop band takes off the gloves, goes back to the synth sound that made them global stars years ago, and takes back what Keane has tried to steal. The first single debuted high in Europe, entering the charts at #3 in some countries, and will definitely crack the top 10 in England - just like their album and lead single Analogue did 4 years ago. And once again, America will miss out. Blame radioplay. Blame poor marketing. Or just blame the unfortunate 80s label they've shed everywhere else but in the States. Buy it, listen to it, and love it. 10 stars.
