5.0 out of 5 stars A great follow up to a great cd
Gob is one the best underplayed bands that I have heard of recently. Their last full-length cd, The World According to Gob, was a fast-paced pop-punk cd that you couldn't help bouncing around to. Foot in Mouth, gives the band a little more of a rock edge, yet still maintaining that same punk feel with great songs such as Oh Ellin, Lemon-Aid, and Bones. Also on this cd are...

And there are some who wanna say "It's not as punk" but does it really matter? These are all around good songs especially "Give Up the Grudge" which takes shots at hoiti toti whining upper class. (Kinda like a "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" Sequel). "Foot in Mouth Disease" puts [bad] life situations together with catchy tunes. If you have a few extra bucks buy this. It's not the best but it's pretty darn good.

Also on this cd are the songs I Hear You Calling and Ming Tran, great songs from The World According to Gob and F.U. E.P, respectively. This is a must for every pop-punk fan who is looking for a new band to love.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great CD - But beware the COPY PROTECTION ..., April 13, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Foot In Mouth Disease (Audio CD)
God has released another fine CD. I've been a fan since the "Too Late ... No Friends" CD first came out (yea, that Soda video WAS pretty awesome). There's plenty of other bands out there that sound similar to Gob, but remember, Gob has been around quite a long time compared to a lot of these new bands. Check out their other CDs too they're all great!

As good as this CD is I have to complain about the CD protection scheme on this CD. I purchased my CD legally and expected to be able to listen to it in whatever manner I wish. Unfortunately, I discovered the following upon sliding the CD into my computer:

1) The songs are not playable with your favorite audio player. (ie you can't use WinAMP, Media Player, etc, you must use the rather awful media player that's on the CD.)

2) You can't easily make MP3's of the songs.

It IS indeed possible to create MP3's of the songs for your own personal legal use, but it takes a lot of digging into stuff like the Cactus Data Shield 200 protection used on the CD and programs like Exact Audio Copy (EAC) to create the MP3's, but this stuff is beyond the scope of most people buying the CD.

Of course if you're playing the CD only in your home stereo, these shouldn't really be problems for you ... of course a small number of people have reported that the CD doesn't work properly in their stereos or discmans ... if that happens you can always return the CD to the store. The music industry will only succeed in offending their paying customers with these sorts of annoying copy protection schemes! I will in the future refuse to purchase any CD bearing the "copy protected" logo.

3.0 out of 5 stars Get their other CDs..., February 17, 2004
This review is from: Foot In Mouth Disease (Audio CD)
This CD is good, but I wouldn't recommend it to people just getting into this band. Gob is my favorite punk band, but this album isn't too much to my liking. It's too much mainstream punk rather than hardcore playing fast and shouting in the microphone punk.

Get "How Far Shallow Takes You", it's their best (At least to me). It's much more punk sounding than their more recent two albums. Their first album, "Too Late No Friends", is also a great album as well, but their 2nd is the their best.

The highlights of this CD are Bully, Bones, Fed Up, Give Up The Grudge, and I've Been Up These Steps.

Bully is my favorite. It is more of an old Gob sounding track. Lots of shouting and high paced.

Also, if you are a video gamer, you may know some Gob songs from this album that have been in a few EA Sports games.

Madden 2004 fans will already know Give Up The Grudge.

NHL 2004 fans will know Oh Ellin.

NHL 2003 fans will know I've Been Up These Steps

NHL 2002 fans will know I Hear You Calling (Even though it was from The World According to Gob version)

I just want to say this is the best CD I have ever bought! Sure it has its highs and lows but over all it's a great CD!! My favorite songs are 'Lemon-Aid', 'Give Up The Grudge', 'I Hear You Calling', and 'Cold Feet'. These songs are incredible with awesome riffs and choruses. I've just discovered this band in March 2003. I saw them in concert and didn't know who they were. I got hooked on 'Give Up The Grudge' and bought their CD. I've loved it since and I know you will too! They are trying to make it big in the US, they already are in Canada. So please, help this band out and get noticed!!!

I purchased this CD after purchasing Madden 2004 for PS2. I had never heard of the band before, and I really loved the song "Give up the Grudge". After playing "Give up the Grudge" about a million times, I decided to listen to the rest of the CD and it is great! Now I'm going to buy the rest of GOB's CDs. GOB rocks!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gob's Going To Blow America Away with this Album, April 4, 2003
By
This review is from: Foot In Mouth Disease (Audio CD)
This is Gob's 5 CD They have made But this one is to get American in on the best candian band to hit The US This year They know how to rock out on the stage so this is a great CD 12 New Songs and 2 from The FU EP Ming Tran is the song and one of the songs is I Hear You Calling from The World Accroding To Gob.

This cd starts off with "Lemon- Aid" it sounds like they are playing in a gradge you hear the drums play and you think what the Hell and then The Gutiars kick in so then You set in for Rocking out to the music then toward the middle it gets fast and then slows down ,gets faster agian gets you keep going till the song ends.

The second song "I Been Up These Steps" starts off with clapping to get you into the mood of the song then they set you up with some hard riffs and lyrics starts to slow down but then gets back to being fast great tune to see played live.

The Nest song is Oh! Ellin it sounds like a Acoustic Guatiar at rist then gets into the the Electric Guatiar gets fast stays fast for a while dosen't slow down to much great slows on this song.

The next song "I Cut My Self Too" starts off with the whole band playing still keeping you on the edge of your seat. freidnly Lyrics that get stuck in Your head just like the other songs slows done in the middle then speeds back up to what it use to be or harder.

The Next song "FED Up" strats off way diffeent then the last song making you wondering what could be next it's a Piano in the beigning of the song it's slow but just right, gets faster too and slows down.

The Next Song "MING Tran" This is a song that gets you going great lyrics and good chords just right for this kinda of song it's fast and heavy at the same time.

The Next Song When "Life Gets Boring" strts off with great lyrics fast but not to fast but then all of a sudden it gets faster great Hooks in this song after that it strats to slow down but not to slow just enough to enjoy the song speeds up during the Chours.

The Next Song "Give Up The Grudge" great sound a effect in the beging starts off slow but then speeds up toward the song gets to the end great song about the diffrent people in the world great Lyrics great guatiar chords and solo. The next one Bones starts off fast gets faster great lyric right in your face kinda of lyric you can't get enough of the fast past wondering whats the lyrics agian great speed dosen't really slow down to much but just unfo to keep you kick your self for more getting up and dance to the song.

The Next Song "This Evil World" great lyrics and chords starts off slow but fast at the same time gets you going still for more of this music guatiar solo and Bass Lines really Good Bass Chords toward the end/ middle.

The Next Song "I Hear You calling" this is a great pop osng great for the younger kids this song is catchy to listen too you will know th lyrics by the end of the song still great song but it's been on a album alreday.

The NEXT song "Bully"
This song is really fast but starts off slow and yet great lyric's and Guatiar Chords one the best songs on here if you like fast music, This is Loud and fast also the only song the Theo signs almost the whole time.

The Next Song "Cold Feet" It's a nice song great beat slow but still rocks though even thought it's fast and slow but it's great for anyone that likes it you still have one more song lefted on the CD wondering what could be next after Cold Feet.

The next SOng " Everybody's getting Hooked Up" great drums in the begiang good guatiar chords it's not to fast but just right the lyrics will get stuck in your head before you now it wondering what could be better then to listen to the CD agian or seeing them live or whats nexts fro thsi band are they going to make another Record soon. but still able to listen to the CD longer till the next one comes.

This Cd was LOUD,FAST,And Obnoxious at the same time but This Cd is deffently one to buy So what you waiting for buy the sucker you wont regert it and if you don't like the Cd Go see them in Concert they will be even better live.

This is one carzy CD that sure is going to hit # 1 soon if they know good music when they hear it. also This Cd will Make You want To Start a band

4.0 out of 5 stars The evolution of gob..., January 28, 2005
This review is from: Foot In Mouth Disease (Audio CD)
Thru out the years, I've been following the candian punk-pop foursome known as gob. This is what i've found; In 1995, they released a debut called "too late...no friends". It was your basic mid-90's punk album, with little to no melody, short songs, below average production, and poor song structure.

In 98', the band released a follow up called "how far shallow takes you". This time around, the songs were a bit longer and had slightly more melody, and the band's transformation from "punk" to "punk-pop" was already underway.

After about three years of being off the scene, gob returned once more in early 2001 with "the world according to gob", an album which owed more to Britney spears and the current Blink 182 than it did to early Green Day or the Ramones. The songs were overly poppy, the production was super slick, and the lyrics were varied and covered more topics than just potty humor and teen rebelion. It was A HUGE step in the right direction, with the boys producing an album as strong as "enema of the state" and "all killer no filler". In my opinion, it's their best record to date.

Unfortunatly tho, even with a pop sound and modern lyrical content, gob was still no where near being as big as Simple plan or blink, so one year after releasing "the world according", they decided to go on tour with fellow canadian punk brats Sum 41. The tour gave them the opportunity to impress Arista's Executive producer LA reid, so much in fact that he sent the boys of gob into the recording studio the following year to create...

"Foot in mouth disease". To be honest, its a bit MORE "punk" than "the world according to gob" , but not by much, and with producer Mark Trombino (blink 182, Diffuser, The Starting Line, Finch ect.) and labelmates Avril Lavine and Wakefield, the difference isn't easily noticed. It features 14 songs that run between 2-5 minutes on average, and are all really catchy and singable (the formula for "the world according to gob" was basically duplicated). If you're into melodic, catchy pop-punk, I'd recommend getting "the world according to gob" first and then "foot in mouth". DO NOT pick up "too late...no friends" or "How far shallow takes you" unless you actually prefer hardcore punk to pop-punk.
