5.0 out of 5 stars A great read and a great gift!
I bought this book for my husband as a surprise gift for football season. Not only did he love it, but he insisted that I read it. I was not disappointed. It is packed full of information, has a great index and is written with humor and an edge. This is a talented writer that I hope plans to write more. I highly recommend this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Huh?
Horribly written. But it IS about the Raiders, so how bad can it be?

This is perhaps the best Raider book that I've ever read. The only thing that kept me from giving it five stars were the several attacks on President Bush. Other than that, this is a must-read for any Raider fan!

4.0 out of 5 stars What a pleasure, September 25, 2003
By A Customer

I am not an American football fan and just happened to pick this book up on a lark. What a pleasure. Parker's acerbic wit, dry humor and energizing turn-of-phrase kept me turning the pages. If football is a ballet, then Parker is a poet!

3.0 out of 5 stars like the return from El Lay, April 27, 2005

This book is great when the author just talks about the Raiders and the history but the game to game details I basically skimmed over. After you read one game analysis (not that they are bad or anything) you have kind of read them all.
Being a Raiders fan it's not that I didn't enjoy the book but it's like this whole Gannon (who I think is just a KC Chief plant designed to destroy the Raiders from within) and Rice (aargh, an annoying 49er in Raider colors, something is not right there) era--it just falls short of being truly great.

3.0 out of 5 stars Amusing but in serious need of editing, January 30, 2005
This review is from: Football's Blackest Hole: A Fan's Perspective (Paperback)
This book had its amusing moments, bringing back both childhood and recent memories. Unfortunately, the book was in serious need of editing. Missing periods, typos, and constantly-changing names were a problem throughout the book. Perhaps this publisher doesn't want to spend on having someone carefully read over the manuscripts before publishing them, which is a shame because it detracts from the book's merits.

5.0 out of 5 stars From a Packer fan, December 15, 2005
This review is from: Football's Blackest Hole: A Fan's Perspective (Paperback)
I want to start out saying that I'm a Packer fan through and through, and I'm really not that interested in Raider's football. Having said that, I found this book to be genuinely funny, brutally honest, and a fine read.

It didn't turn me into a Raider fan (that can never happen to a true Cheesehead), but I learned a lot more about the team I consider to be "The team America loves to hate."

Congratulations, Craig, on a job well done. Sorry about the Raiders (and the Packers) seasons this year, but it is more fodder for the next one to come.

Next time, write a book about the greatest team and organization in all of sports...say it with pride...The Green Bay Packers!
