4.0 out of 5 stars A satisfying sequel, July 18, 2008
By
I loved Bass Ackwards and Belly Up, which covers the first half of the Year of Dreams four friends pursue. I couldn't wait for the sequel - and it didn't disappoint! I read all 423 pages in a single day; I couldn't put it down. The romance in this book is even more complicated, painful and real than in the first. The girls all grow more mature and make deep personal discoveries. While the frequent explanations of the first book's events can be annoying, they do allow Footfree and Fancyloose to stand on its own; it is fully readable even if you haven't read the first book. This is a series I'll reread over and over; the characters are intensely interesting and their issues are totally relevant to college-age life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully awesome!, April 25, 2008

I absolutely love this book and these charecters. It was a perfect sequal to an equally stellar book. If you haven't read the first book you definitly should. Both stories are great. I am crossing my fingers for another one(I want a happier resolution for two almost couples in the story) and I hope it comes sooner rather than later.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, September 7, 2008
To begin with this book was GREAT! And on another note i think its sad how little this book has been publicized. Its just as good as the sisterhood series (possibly better). This book is great for 14-adults. Not really too predictable and all together a great addition to the series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Really decent sequel, June 20, 2010
This review is from: Footfree and Fancyloose (Paperback)
This book is the sequel to Bass Ackwards and Belly Up and it follows the girls throughout the second part of the year of dreams. Kate's story is the best once again. I really loved her character. Sophie's story was a bit unrealistic although not as unrealistic as the last time, at least in this book she did see like a struggling actress by working as a waitress and sleeping on someone's couch however, none of the "big three" are going to even consider you even for a developmental deal if you haven't had any real acting jobs yet. I never really liked her character anyway because she always came across as being whiny and egotistical, the only good thing I can say about her story is that at least she was knocked down a peg. Harper's ending is a bit unreal as well, it's really hard to get a book published so the fact that she did it just like that was a bit fake and the fact that NYU accepted her the second time around, it's hard for recent high school grads to get accepted and even more unrealistic that someone who sat out a year and was also rejected the first time to get back in. Kate's being able to just go to Harvard after turning them down is unrealistic as well seeing how she would have to reapply since her seat was most likely given to someone on the wait list but there is no mention of her doing that.
But overall the book was pretty good although not as good as Sisterhood of the travelling pants, like someone else I'm also hoping for another book although there don't seem to be any plans for any since the writers do other things with television and movies now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Teens Read Too, January 12, 2010
This review is from: Footfree and Fancyloose (Paperback)
This sequel to BASS ACKWARDS AND BELLY UP takes the second half of the year of dreams with these four best friends.

Becca is still at Middlebury living the life of a ski bum and in love. She's found her guy and she's sharing every moment with him. But her family life comes crashing down again and she just might say something she'll regret.

Sophie needs to find an apartment pronto as she's being kicked out of her great digs - and an acting job wouldn't be too bad, either. It's hard to say you're an actress if no one is hiring you.

Kate is "taking the water." She's gone to Africa to build wells for towns in desperate need of close water. Will being half a world away bring her closer to her family and also help her find her way home?

Harper found her voice and spends her free time writing in the bathroom where she can escape the world. In between writing, she must deal with her love life and her family issues.

The friendship of these four girls reaches beyond space and time and helps each one through both rough times and triumphs. It's a great sisterhood novel, showing the ups and downs of friendship and how one moment can change your whole life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome sequel., January 31, 2009
By
As a fan of the first book in this series (Bass Ackwards and Belly Up), I was thrilled to learn there would be a sequel to it. Now that I've read it, I'm sad that it's (probably) over.

I felt like I was friends with Becca, Harper, Kate, and Sophie. Even though it's just a book, I sometimes wished I could jump in and give advice, hug, or sometimes even slap someone. I wanted the best for them, always, and was so sad when something went wrong for them.

As someone in a previous review said, it's a shame that this series doesn't get more recognition. It's better than a majority of the popular books out there now.
