Review

"An excellent guide - regarded by many as the best book on the territory available." South American Explores Club

About the Author

Peter Hutchison first visited Central America in 1992 when he travelled extensively through the region and onto South America... using FootPrint all the way! After two years working in Bolivia as a journalist on the Bolivian Times he returned to the UK. Attempts to settle in the UK have proved partially successful, but the attractions of Latin America continue regularly to pull him back to the region.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant guide!, May 30, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Footprint Central America and Mexico Handbook 2002 (Paperback)
I must have purchased 10 or 12 different guides to Central America/Mexico in recent times and was rather loathe to buy yet another - but I am glad I did! This is an excellent guide offering really up-to-date information and worthwhile recommenations. No one guide give you all the info you need, but couple this with Knopf Guides' Route of the Maya, and perhaps Lonely Planet's Guatemala, Belize and Yukatan Guide and you need no other! VERY highly recommended!

2.0 out of 5 stars Buy the Rough Guide, July 24, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Footprint Central America and Mexico Handbook 2002 (Paperback)
Having used rough guides for years we wanted to reduce the books we were carrying on our travels through mexico and central america.

This is our first experience of the footprint series and we are very disappointed with it. We spent a frustrating morning in mexico city recently trying to find shops listed in the guide which proved not to be there or in the wrong street. Its understandable that places will move or close down but the sheer number of mistakes we{ve found indicates that the publishers have rushed out the 2002 edition without fully checking facts. The guide also lacks the wit, verve and accuracy of the writing in the rough guides and doesnt make for particularly interesting reading.
