Editorial Reviews

Review

"A mystery, and what a mystery it is, Footprints in the Butter is a wild treasure hunt through the past (and the present). A wise-cracking, closing-in-on-her-fifth-decade protagonist, Ingrid is smart, lusty, and a delight to know. Hitchcock responds best to "baddog" and "chase the cat," and is a walking disaster, but he is an excellent sidekick for our heroine. Ben, Ingrid's once-again love isn't all that bad either. One note of caution: If you hate elephant jokes do not even think of buying this book! Otherwise, grab it, savor it, and enjoy meeting some totally engaging characters. Ms. Dietz, Footprints in the Butter is a read without peer. Congratulations."

-- Under the Covers Book Reviews

"Denise Dietz is a formidable writing talent. Footprints In The Butter is sharp, sassy, chock full of wisecracks, with a protagonist who could rival V. I. Warshawski. Denise Dietz and Footprints In the Butter are exceptional! 4-1/2 Stars!"

-- Affaire de Coeur, August 1998

"Denise Dietz writes sassy, sharp and sophisticated comedy, with a splash of mystery and a big dose of wit. Footprints in the Butter is an exceptional book by an exceptional talent." -- Rickey R. Mallory for Painted Rock Reviews

"Dietz's unusual sense of humor shines through yet again through her superb writing and sense of style. Dietz manages to write a mystery wrapped with wit and tied with a bow of humor. If you enjoy Footprints in the Butter, you'll probably like Promises To Keep."

-- The Word Museum

From the Back Cover

In her own mind, Ingrid Beaumont is the quintessential amateur sleuth. She enjoys riddles, but has never solved a real mystery in her life. From books to television to movies, Ingrid always guesses wrong.

In his own mind, Hitchcock, is the quintessential well trained pooch, even though he only knows eight commands and responds best to baddog and getdownoffthecouchyousonofabitch. Hitchcock doesn't know the difference between gum and gun. But Ingrid and her ganglionic mutt must unriddle the death of her childhood friend, world renowned artist, Wylie Jamestone. A note tacked to his latest canvas read: "Give this to Ingrid. Let the treasure hunt begin."

Now, whether she wants to play detective or not, Ingrid has no choice. Now, the killer is after her!

Can she survive poison, Texas, and Charlie Bronson's booby-trapped pantyhose?
