Very well written and interesting story of early Portuguese life on a farm in San Ramon CA. Shows how frugal and smart her parents were and how much they valued hard work. Doesn't speak that much about specific Portuguese American culture but applies to many backgrounds. Points out living in that time and place and what people did to survive.
