5.0 out of 5 stars A Management "Must- Read", December 17, 2005
By
This review is from: Footsteps of My Father: Everything I Know About Management I Learned From My Dad (Paperback)
Mr. Rino writes from the heart...In any business it is important to respect your employees and validate their needs. For a company to be successful the wise guidance of Tony's dad must be followed. I too come from a compassinate family with strong moral values and find that when the employees are happy the boss is happy. Therefore success is automatic. More companies should follow Mr. Rino's advice and see how productive people become. Involving your employees in decision making is another plus, for they become actively interested in the finished product, staying late to finsh a task with enthusiasm. Congrats to Mr. Rino on a terrific book..

5.0 out of 5 stars A book for ALL Italian professionals, November 19, 2005

This review is from: Footsteps of My Father: Everything I Know About Management I Learned From My Dad (Paperback)
This review has "a little bias" as I know the author and his family very well. I can honestly state that Tony has captured and documented the essence of his own success under his fathers hard working, common sense approach on work. The simplicity of the concepts that are projected in the book have a much deeper impact as they were related by action and many times not by words.
A great read!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read for Dads & Sons, August 28, 2007

This review is from: Footsteps of My Father: Everything I Know About Management I Learned From My Dad (Paperback)
A very brief but excellent reading, and shows how a father's life style examples reflect on his son.
I would advise this as required for any young dad to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Administrative Assistant, October 4, 2005

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Footsteps of My Father: Everything I Know About Management I Learned From My Dad (Paperback)
I am not a manager, however I am from an Italian background. I totally enjoyed reading every word of this book. My father also loves to cook and truly enjoys people who enjoy food! It is a great read due to the fact that alot of Mr. Rino's theories on management to me, are based on the way I was brought up, and that is "Treat people well and you will earn their respect and loyalty, either as a manager or just a friend", I wish in this world there could be more managers with this work ethic. I have always been a hard worker but when you have someone that works with you, instead of against you, you will always have such a great working relationship. It sounds like Mr. Rino has never forgotten where he has come from and he will always get right down in the trenches to get the job done with the troops. That is how you earn respect!

My husband is management, and he is now reading the book. His analogy is the same in regards to getting right into the trenches with the troops to get the job done. Whatever they have to do, I can do as well.

So Mr. Rino whenever you need an Administrative Assistant, PLEASE find me and I will be happy to come wherever you are to work for you!

One last thing about your book, what captured me in this book was not only your managment theories, but the fact that everything your wrote about centered around your entire family. In my life, nothing is more important than my family. Absolutely nothing, and in this day and age, that it a dying breed. Thank you again for a truly enjoyable read.

P.S. When is your second book coming out?

5.0 out of 5 stars Historical fiction at its best., December 22, 2011
This review is from: Footsteps of My Father: Everything I Know About Management I Learned From My Dad (Paperback)
When I purchased Not in My Father's Footsteps I had no idea what I was getting into. I had read West's first novel and his book of short stories. Neither prepared me for this novel about the 30s in Montreal and Spain. I had no idea he could write with such depth.

He has added flesh and blood to the bones I had been taught and that I had taught others.

This is a book worthy of being read by anyone interested in history and in families. The two men in this story were groomed to follow in their fathers' footsteps. They could have bypassed the worst of the Depression. They didn't. This is a book about a few good people in very bad times.
