Book Description

“For All of Our Days” is a love story between Marc and Jenny, who chanced to meet one fall afternoon in the small fishing village of Arcadia, in northern Michigan.

An unusual event occurred that brought them together, and it was as if the stars had collided. Their attraction to each other was immediate and explosive. The attraction develops into a consuming need for each other and love, an emotion that neither of them had ever really known.

Both have unhappy pasts that begin to unfold as they become more intimate in their relationship. Their love affair is fraught with obstacles and tragic complications that test Jenny’s devotion to Marc and threaten to destroy what they had waited so many years to find.

This book by Mary Pickens was an excellent read. I could not put it down. Not only was it a fine love story, but it gives you a fine appreciation of Lake Michigan and the Frankfort area and the great salmon fishing that was available, which brings the two main characters together. You will not be disappointed when you read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars For All Our Days by Mary Pickens April 28, 2012

For a first time author, Mary Pickens writes like a seasoned pro.

I like the fact that Jenny did not have a troubled childhood like most romance stories do. Although, her adult life had many obstacles to overcome.

The way "Jenny and Marc" meet made me laugh out loud. You could actually picture it happening.

Jenny and Marc both have children from previous marriages so it fits in well with todays society and the American blended families.

For the men out there Marc is a guy any son would look up to. He has character and great morals. His love of work and fishing adds to the story. The discriptions the author paints truly put you on the boat and reeling the fish in! I loved the "real" fish stories of the ones that didn't get away.

I laughed and I cried - a great read! For All of Our Days

I knew Mary Pickens, the book's writer in Logan Utah in the 1950's. The book is the story of Mary in many ways.

As a girl Mary was strong in the way Jenny is, she saw her troubles through and never gave into defeat.

I thought of my old friend, Mary, as I read Jenny's struggles to have a good life.
I am so glad she finally found the ,"Love of her life".

The description of the Lake Michigan small villages was a wonderful read, I felt I was on this journey through Life with her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book, great story for men or women.! November 25, 2012

I bought this book to give to several of my Michigan friends a few months back and finally got the time to read it myself. What a great read. It starts with a chance meeting of two people, with difficult pasts and complicated lives. The author takes us fishing with Jenny and Marc in Northern Michigan (which I didn't know much about) to manufacturing in the Detroit area (which I did for over 30 years). Even though Jenny's had to deal with many of life's hardest ordeals she is both resilient and tender. Marc brings strength and excitement into her life while she restores the fire within him. And still, life is never easy, with several more obstacles for both of them to overcome. This book is well worth the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars For All of Our Days April 10, 2012
I was privileged to be one of the first to read this book. It's a story of a young woman life with all the trial that goes along with it during the 40=50 and 60's. Some parts are sad and other are heart warming and It would make a excellent movie for the younger generation who never got to experience life before our great nation was destroyed. The story shows that with determination even a bad situation can be turned into something good. While reading the book I become part of it and had a hard time putting it down,,,,
