Book Description

A collection of stories, photography and advice from three months spent in Idaho: one of America's most under-appreciated states. Mike and Jürgen are travelers who spend 91 days in various locations around the world, capturing the history, lifestyle and most interesting aspects of their temporary homes. With the enthusiasm of newcomers, they've explored Idaho from top to bottom, and built a thorough picture of this little-known corner of the Pacific Northwest.

Filled with information about the wildlife, history, oddities, nature and towns of Idaho, the e-book follows Mike and Jürgen's adventures from the forests and lakes of the north to bizarre geological formations in the south. Leave any preconceptions behind, and you'll discover that Idaho is anything but boring! The book contains over 250 professional full-color photos, along with a full index organized by date and category.

For 91 Days in Idaho isn't a traditional guidebook, but an impartial and colorful account of three months spent in this amazing and surprisingly diverse state. Explore Idaho over the course of 91 days, and learn about what makes it such a special place.

4.0 out of 5 stars the Great State of Idaho February 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book. I was able to download it to my PC and did not have to have a Kindle. Great!! The pictures of the out of the way places in Idaho were wonderful. The easy to read articles make this a great guide to take with you on your trip. You represented the state as a whole from Glacier to Desert, country to city. I enjoyed your perspective of my home state. Thank you! Definitely worth the read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great travel book July 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Something rare happened when I read this book, I read it from cover to cover. The only travel books I have ever read this way were those by the likes of Jan Morris, Wilfred Thesiger, Rory Stewart, Bruce Chatwin, and so on - not bad company for Michael and Juergen to be in!! When I downloaded it, I was not even planning a trip to Idaho - just curious. Now that I've followed their wanderings, I am ready to go. And wanderings is what the book is about.

This is a truly unique and wonderful chronicle of the 91 days they spent exploring Idaho, and through their concise accounts I feel as if I am now almost an expert on the state. I love the many quirky bits they uncovered like the B&B in the form of a giant Beagle, or the eccentric crazy house. In very few words, Michael pulls together a lot of historic and background information to add depth to his stories. There is no shortage of books that list the usual tourist attractions, entry costs, times of operation and such. This is all fine and good information to have, but Michael and Juergen take us into their world and the gems they have found along the way.

A big plus are the exquisite photographs that Juergen has taken. These are nothing short of being works of art. Not only does he regale us with shots that capture the natural beauty of the state, but he has a very keen eye for structures and machines - and how to capture their beauty as well. The sprinkling of short video clips is yet another dimension that truly enriches this book. Although it is not the type of travel book that is a collection of tourist information, they do add links to web sites for more details when appropriate. The only feature I found myself wanting was a map detailing their wanderings so as to give me a sense of where these places are.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shows how wonderful Idaho is. May 30, 2013

My family and I visit Idaho every year for vacation and this was a great read. We made notes to places we want to visit and compared notes with what the authors had written to places we had already visited. They hit it spot on. Yes, we have an owl ready for our visit this summer.

I grew up in Idaho. I've been everywhere in Idaho. These guys went to places I know & love and saw it in a different light. Awesome. They also went to places near where I've been that I have never heard of. Very special. Like Idaho city. Been there many times but didn't know the history they mentioned. Recommend to natives & newbies each.

I'm an OTR truck driver, so I pretty much only see Idaho from the major highways. Someday, I'm gonna buy a Goldwing & spend some time there, exploring where I can't see now. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars weird ebook
The e book format was choppy and some misspellings. Not sure if that is an epub fault or the authors.

3.0 out of 5 stars inaccurate in parts
As someone who lives in Idaho I found it annoying to find some details inaccurate. I wonder where they got some of their information from?

3.0 out of 5 stars Let's go to Idaho!!
I enjoyed their candid report. They are more liberal than my family and we probably won't visit all the pubs and winerys, but did learn a lot. We plan to vacation there in June.
