Editorial Reviews

Cilla is the younger sister of two other Scottish singers we have recorded: Archie and Ray. She and her husband, Artie, have toured this country several times, presenting the wonderful songs and ballads of Scotland in excellent harmonies with accomplished guitar accompaniments.

A friend and I were driving to Rochester in the late '80s, and he busted out a tape of albums he had copied from someone's collection. The artists included Roberts & Barrand, Archie Fisher, and these guys, Archie's sister Cilla and her husband Artie. That was my introduction to British Folk Revival, and there was no going back. Since then I have explored the Watersons, Martin Carthy, Old Blind Dogs, and others, but this album is still one of the sweetest and most haunting.
