If you want to pay to learn why the author feels everybody should choose his agency, then blow your money on this boring diatribe of hyperbole and self promotion. If you're really interested in PR then I recommend Masters of Disasters: The Ten Commandments of Damage Control by Christopher Lehane, et. el., and The Media Training Bible by Brad Phillips. They manage to teach relevant and real best practices without mentioning how wonderful their firms and managing partners are multiple times a page.

In some ways you could say that Ronn Torossion is good at PR - the first eighteen reviews for this book certainly read like a press release straight from his desk.
Certainly I found his advice on how gay people can avoid pregnancy most interesting, if a little irrelevant.
With clients like Pastor John Hagee truly only the best PR brains could spin out a positive story.

Anyway, do some research on the author first, and make a considered decision before buying this book.

Let me finish with a quote from the author:

Run tactically but think strategically. Just running won't get you far. You'll hit the wall. Strategically you'll find a way around it. But don't over plan without doing.

We're a small (2 person) ethical fashion brand from London via Berlin. We have had 3 PR agencies look after us in the last 18 months and all lost their interest in terms of actually helping our brand build on our early successes and tell our story.

We had lost our faith in PR until reading this book. What's been missing from our PR is passion. We're passionate about what we do and we're wholeheartedly sincere about the way we do things.

We're now taking on the big task of building our own in-house PR - a long, hard road but it seems that small brands like us can't pay for the passion we have about what do or the PR that can sincerely reflect that passion.

This book has become our bible - we're brimming with ideas and strategies (both of which seem to have been lacking from all our PR representatives in the past), so sincerely, THANK YOU RONN for the inspiration and we one day hope that we can do enough good work (with the help of For Immediate Release) to be able work with 5WPR or some one who is as passionate as Ronn is!

For the last 10 years I have had the dream of one day, be able to afford having Ron has our PR spokesperson....
Meanwhile...his book fulfill somehow that function...when ever in doubts, when ever we have organize a press-conference,
my team & I, go back to read his book's chapters...so the book has been a lifesaver for
our team @ [...]

I wasn't all that interested in this book, but found it and picked it up because I've been a fan of some of BenBella's other authors. I was quite disappointed.

I can sum up the author's advice in a just a few sentences ...

1. If you're going to Tweet and FB; be at least slightly interesting, try not to be irritating, and don't spam.
2. Don't act like an idiot in public.

That's about it.

The remainder of the book was Mr. Torossian expounding on what a fabulous PR firm he runs, how exciting and jet setting his own personal life is, and ... quite surprisingly and incongruously ... union bashing.

That's right. Union bashing. Mr. Torrosian devotes almost an entire chapter to bashing unions. I was unaware of it, but apparently unions and the salaries of "union bosses" are quite relevant to a discussion of PR. As well, the bashing of environmentally responsible companies is also fair game.

In between a very, very few simple minded nuggets of mediocre advice, there is ... not much of anything. Mr. Torossian seems to have broken his own rules and is both uninteresting as well as decidedly irritating.

You can find much higher quality writing and much better PR advice online (blogs, mostly) - for free.

As a small PR firm I'm always looking to learn new things from more established, bigger, PR power houses. I buy tons of books, attend events and mingle at every turn... this book is among the best I've found about how to use public relations most effectively to deliver results. Examples interweave real-life, first-hand, experiences, including: Muhammad Ali on The Sopranos, Camp Bow Wow, and Carnival, among many others. But to me the most inspiring was how 5WPR founder and CEO, started in a teeny tiny office all by himself and is now one of the largest PR firms out there. It's like the little engine that could... but with a PR spin. I highly recommend this book!

Written to promote the author's company and how wonderful his company and he is, this belongs in a blog somewhere in the corner where no-one but his employees should have access to it. I gave up after the first 3 useless chapters and skimmed to see if there was anything worthwhile in the other chapters. Of absolute no value to a reader and I would actually really like my money back!
