I'm not anything remotely close to a vegan, but I bought this book to add variety to my diet as well as a hope of dropping a few pounds. I've enjoyed the recipes so much that Meatless Mondays has turned into veganism 2 days a week. (I've even lost a few pounds!) Recipes are well organized and easy to follow and not too crunchy granola. I can serve these meals to my carnivore and vegetarian friends alike, they're so good. A contemporary cookbook that sets the standard for those with a conscientious and healthy lifestyle. Well done Ms Lewis.

As a health care practitioner, I love seeking out good cookbooks with delicious recipes, not too hard or time consuming to make, that will have a positive affect on my clients' (and my family's) health - and Roanne Lewis' cookbook fits the bill perfectly. There is nothing so satisfying to me as a lover of food with a sensitive stomach as eating a meal I really really enjoy for its sensory experience, and then also feeling energized rather than sluggish afterwards. I was worried the recipes might be complicated and/or time consuming and that hasn't been the case so far. And I am surprised how little taste is lost in cooking without oils! I cooked the veggie curry in the book and took it to a potluck, and a friend of mine who is an outstanding cook had also brought a veggie curry, hers cooked the conventional way, and the oil-less version was just as good, and just as popular with all the guests at the party. I have also taken the sunflower dream cheese to a party and received rave reviews from the non-vegan tasters, even a couple of difficult to please not-into-'health food' friends. I am really happy to have this fabulous addition to my eating for health library!

For the Love of Eating: Plant-Based, Vegan Recipes for Energy, Weight-Loss and Healing

I really perused this cookbook well before I sat down to write this review. I must admit I am not a vegetarian nor a vegan. However, I am starting to eat less meat and when I do it is halal, kosher or organic and I eat less of it weekly than I ever have for health reasons. I absolutely love this book for many reasons. First, the recipes are easy and not daunting in any manner. Sometimes cookbooks can get so overwhelming with the ingredients and measuring and so forth that it is a pretencious put off rather than a glad endeavor. Not so with Roanne Lewis's wonderful book! Her recipes are clear, concise no nonsense and well laid out. Many of the recipes take raw ingredients and keep them raw which is more nutricious as well as easier to prepare. Some of the ingredients may be "new" to some such as myself. However, farmers markets, oriental shopping markets and healthfood markets which are plentiful in my area or even grocery stores may carry items that you normally would not prepare because you may, like myself not be looking for them! Roanne includes a wonderful glossary in the back as well to include the different kinds of foods with wonderful explanations. Roanne also includes wonderful personal commentary which I adored such as her love of noodles after hiking in the mountains. You can almost see the mountains and feel the healthfulness and love of yummy food in it's pure states jump off these pages. The lettering is large and easily readable as well and includes whimsical warm foody photos which are scattered throughout the pages.

I am learning alot from this book and I love all of the recipes and the detailed information. It is very different from some of the vegan books out there. I have been living a similar lifestyle and eating organic, non-gmo has helped me quite a bit.

My doctor recommended Roanne Lewis as a nutritionist and I have consulted with her a couple of times. She is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I bought the book after learning about it on her website. It is a nicely put together primer for those of us trying the vegan/vegetarian way or trying to stay WITH the vegan/vegetarian way and having issues trying to navigate the various schools of thought about vegan/vegetarianism. I am trying to make the leap from mainstream eating to plant-based eating and this book has really helped me. It is not filled with complex recipes, they are mostly very easy to follow with a lot of common sense to them. There are helpful hints on products and foods. When I stick with it, I lose weight. When I fall off, it is easy to get back onto.

I had been a vegan for about a year when I met Roanne and purchased her book in our COOP. Though I had learned a great deal in the year since becoming vegan, I found her beautiful book so very helpful in adding to my variety of foods and methods of preparing the foods. I also liked how many subject areas she included beyond food, such as personal care, etc. She offers comprehensive information that is simple to follow and easy to incorporate into one's lifestyle. I also enjoyed the chapter on Remedies. She has also provided good resource material and has been great about responding to questions via email. Thank you , Roanne
