More About the Author

Author of between 12 and 14 books - it's complicated, this book business - Swiatek is a former high school math teacher and computer software consultant, living in Buffalo. Published just before Thanksgiving of 2010 is "Save The Animals And Children," a sophisticated children's book about Western New York and a few areas there that have been trashed by corporate pollution - adults are welcome to read it, too. It applies to so many areas of the US. It's Wendy's first book, dealing with amazing animals and their synergy with two-legged animals. Wendy is a woodchuck and Swiatek helped her since she's not that comfortable with spellchecker. The first book of his was "The Read My Lips Cookbook," which is out-of-print. The "second edition" of it was published in May 2010, "The Joy Of Life Cookbook." That book was just recently unpublished, thanks to big bidness. There's more information and recipes at www.bobcooks.com.

Ever wonder why the United States Government is so deep in debt? It could be that they spent $297 million for three chain saws. This and other acts of idiocy can be found in Robert S. Swiatek's latest book of humor, FOR SEEING EYE DOGS ONLY!. Within its pages are quotes, clippings, and observations about how stupid people can really be. For instance, did you hear about the robber whose gun jammed, so he turned it around to look down the barrel and see what the problem was? The second time, the gun worked. My favorite section in FOR SEEING EYE DOGS ONLY! was the church bulletin snafus and misprints. For example, "Attend and you will hear an excellent speaker and heave a healthy lunch." These hilarious tidbits, along with Swiatek's commentary, had me rolling.

While many of the items in the book were new to me, there were also quite a few things I had seen or heard before in various emails, books, and in general conversation. Nevertheless, I was happy to see the funnier ones again for memory refreshment purposes. For a hilariously entertaining read, check out FOR SEEING EYE DOGS ONLY!; I guarantee at least a chuckle or two.

I always wondered how the deer knew just where to cross the road!
This book is full of funny signs, sayings and happenings.
A nice compilation of a lot of odd and funny things that people have said and done.
I love the clips from the children, as they say "out of the mouths of babes".

You will enjoy this lighthearted escape TO reality!!

This book proves two things:
1. The author is VERY observant & funny and
2. human beings are basically not that smart.
I'm not sure I'm happy about #2 but I'm still laughing my
head off because of #1. Thanks for the many, many laughs!

When I need a break from the "serious news"
I turn to this book.
Bob's take on things is indeed a chuckle.
My dog is quite amused when
I laugh out loud to my favorite passages.

What do you call one person from Portugal...a Portugoose? or What's the opposite of opposite? Hmmm...

These one-liners, among others, can be found in Seeing Eye Dogs. I read the book outloud with my college-age sons. We laughed, chuckled and, at times, screwed up our faces. Books need a niche. I think Mr. Swiatek has found it...boys home for the holidays.
