This album is great, 100% better live, On that stage is the best song on the album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wow! I did not expect this..., January 14, 2004
This review is from: For the Love of Music (Audio CD)
Mike Park has always done acoustic numbers on his various releases with Skankin' Pickle, Bruce Lee Band, and The Chinkees....but none of them sounded like this. The roster of bands on his label Asian Man Records must be having a huge impact on him. Very emotional, beautiful music. Not as humorous and upbeat as previous stuff. The subject matter doesn't stray far from the usual racism and society issues, but there are a few songs that seem like "relationship tunes" that are a new but pleasant face to see from Mike. Definatly worth checking out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but still..., July 15, 2005
This review is from: For the Love of Music (Audio CD)
There's no doubt this is a good album, albeit a bit over-produced for my tastes. Mike's songs on the plea for peace CD's always made me want to hear more from him...while this isn't quite what I expected, it is still great. I'm a huge fan of post-punk music, which by my definition is music influenced by punk and DIY ideals but doesn't have the same generic "punk" sound that soooo many bands have. Everything from Godspeed You Black Emperor to Submission Hold to Mike Park fits under this genre to me...punks not dead, it's just post now...sorry for the tangent, anyways if you like Mike Park you have to check out The Mountain Goats, start with the album Sweden or All Hail West Texas, very similar to mike but much better in my opinion.
