Editorial Reviews

Phil Perry & Kevin Sanlin started out in the well known group The Montclairs. Phil & Kevin moved to LA and it was through Natalie Cole producer Charles (Chuck) Jackson that they got signed to Capitol Records. The first album released in 1980 was entitled For Those Who Love. The album showcases Phil & Kevin's true-to-life songwriting and precise vocal delivery. It also helps being backed by fantastic instrumentalists such as Leon Ndugu Chancler, Patrice Rushen, Michael McGloiry, Nathan East & Tony Coleman. The first album set the tone artistically for the follow up in 1982, We're the Winners, produced by Richard Evans. The album is regarded as one of the best soul albums put out in the early 80s, it is an emotional album with some of the best slow & mid tempo songs of its time, in fact some of the songs would stand on their own now. Limited edition of 2,000.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth Satin Silky Soul!!!!! August 8, 2011

What can I say about this album that really would do it justice, These brothers are just BAD!!!! their voices are pure velvet, I remember Perry & Sanlin when they were menbers of The Montclairs, and even then they were unbeleivable. Beautiful harmonies, falsetos that were just heavenly. and songs that would just pull at your hearts strings. Just listen to "We Belong Together" or "Just To Make You Happy" and the ever beautiful "Just Like Magic"

Have mercy!!!!!!! these singers today have nothing on these brothers. These two albums have been out of print since the 80's get your copy NOW!!!!!!!! ther are going fast, dont miss out on this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars some fine singing September 10, 2011

If you are a soul music fan or a Montclairs fan this contains some of Phil Perrys finest singing on record. Some great ballads such as "Love is like a statue" and "Just to make you happy" to name a couple of my favorites. Kevin Sanlin provides great vocal accompainement and balance. Having both lps on one cd after all these years is a joy. I am partial to ballads so I rate this 5 stars, although the non ballads are enjoyable they are not quite as good as the slowies. The ballads are that good, to my ears anyway.

1.0 out of 5 stars Over the top and simply a bad CD December 24, 2012

I have, I think, about 10 Phil Perry CDs. On each CD, there's at least 2 songs that are fantastic. This CD doesn't have one that I would want to play a second time. Save your money, invest in another CD, anything else has to be better.
