5.0 out of 5 stars Lives up to the energy of Backatown September 13, 2011
By Andy L.
Format:MP3 Music
After being blown away by Backatown, his previous album, I was a little apprehensive about whether Trombone Shorty would deliver the same energy and character, or would this album feel like 'more of the same'. So, I took the album out for a spin, literally, with an hour long bicycle ride. I did the same with Backatown, and ended that ride with more energy than I started with. For this album, I can say that my experience was just as exhilarating. This was another dynamic album that I really enjoyed.
If you want to get a good feel for the best of this album, check out these tracks: "Do To Me", "Buckjump", and "Then There Was You".

5.0 out of 5 stars Jamming! September 13, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've been a fan of Trombone Shorty for years - and have been highly anticipating this CD's release. He has definitely raised the bar with this one. I dare you to listen to this CD without moving some part of your body...you can't! Fantastic combination of unclassifiable jazz-funk-rock instrumentals and vocals. "Buckjump" sucks you in - and the rest will not let you go.

The instrumentation is tight. The beats are hot. Crank it up...it's an instant party.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funky as funky can be. September 13, 2011
Format:Audio CD
This album is so funky I put in nose plugs and covered my head with a plastic bag in a room full of scented candles and the funk still flowed through. High energy, impeccable musicianship, mixed with down and dirty compositions make "For True" a real triumph to the highest degree.
Ain't it amazing what these kids can do with real musical instruments these days.

I've been missing the sound of horns in music since the 70s...and this more than fills the bill. Lots of energy, great horns, and improv, great tunes. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Everything
It's jazz. It's funk. It's rock. It's soul. It's New Orleans.

There are some great dance beats in here, but Trombone Shorty is also a virtuoso and an ambassador of NOLA... Read more

This is a fantastic CD. Trombone SHorty is awesome, and this CD realistically represents his awesomeness. And I have to write four more words to post this. Awesome.
