4.0 out of 5 stars Slight Flaw, But What a Song February 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
As another reviewer notes about the digital download of Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth," near the beginning of the track, as Stills sings the word "beware" there's a flaw. I wouldn't characterize as much as the audio dropping out, as almost a pop. Since so many of these digital remasterings of 1960s recordings were made from original masters, that could be the source of the flaw. The rest of the audio is quite good -- good clarity, good depth. The best feature, though, is the fact that this song captured the confusion and the conflict of the mid-1960s perfectly probably better than any other. It's not so much a protest song as an observation of the times. In light of the violence of some of the protest rallies of the 1968-1970, "For What It's Worth" is especially eerie. Strongly recommended, despite the one noticeable flaw.

3.0 out of 5 stars Problem with original recording April 7, 2009
A classic, but the audio is messed up in one spot. Near the beginning of the song where he says the word "beware," the audio drops out. This must come from the master tape because if you listen to the LP track, the same thing happens. You'd think an audio engineer would have picked up on this and at least TRIED to fix it. I'm probably nit-picking here but as a die-hard BF fan, I would have preferred a pristine version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Protest song from the 60's
This song really has a message; you can't miss it. It laments the establishment, the use of force, and the way our nation was headed in 1965. Read more
