5.0 out of 5 stars The Forbidden Book Of Getting What You Want Review
As far as the negative reviews of this book go, I can only conclude that the reviewers have either not read the book or they are simply too lazy to implement the instructions within the book. If they are ardent folowers of "The Secret," they are probably waiting for the "Wish Fairy" to fulfill their wishlist!

I am sure that some people have been able to...

Having just finished this book I can only reflect on the sad state of publishing.

All you need is a good title it seems. After that all you need is a bunch of Amazon log-ons so that you can write glowing references.

This book is the most appallingly written book ever--there are elementary spelling, grammatical and factual errors that any real publisher would have spotted straight away, on every page.

Apparently, India doesn't need a capital letter, and was ruled by the English (sic) for only 90 years, while Warren Buffet (sic) invented Microsoft Windows.

The author has just shamelessly stolen the most cliched parts from other pop-psych books such as Greene and Covey and has presented them (poorly) as if they are Earth-shattering revelations. There's more insight on the Oprah show.

The book is something which has been presented to turn a quick buck: double spaced, big font, with new topics starting every couple of pages immediately following empty space.

The author spends the first 30 pages explaining why this book is awesome, and "forbidden" why by reading it you are "trapped". He then rehashes some stuff in the middle before devoting the end 30 pages to re-rehashing what he's already covered, except this time with bullet-points!

All this from a book which is only 148 pages long.

I'm really interested in some of the reviews for this book--most of the ones that give this book 5 stars were written by people who reviewed and rated the book more than once, on the same day and also seem to have very poor grammatical skills....hmmmm.

Give this a wide berth, and save your money

If the dozens of glaring typos weren't irritating enough the insults the writer throws are enough to want to put the book down. "Don't be an idiot" appears many times. Sure, there is some good information, but who can take a writer seriously when they don't capitalize India and assume that the reader is living a "lazy lifestyle"? Refund, please.

WARNING - this book is a monumental waste of money. Ellis must have paid people to give him a good rap and is an indication of the dumbing down of America. The book is littered with spelling errors (almost every page) and the grammar is appalling. Either he is illiterate or his proof reader is a moron. Nothing original here - try Stephen Covey if you are interested in this subject. A 1 star rating is a compliment.

For the price, I was disappointed with this book. I suppose I should have known that the quality of the book was questionable by the cheesy cover and title. The information in the book was okay, but there aren't any ideas here that haven't already been presented in other books, and with better clarity I might add. The most glaring thing wrong with this book is the editing, or lack thereof! There were so many run-on sentences and sentences lacking correct punctuation that reading this book became a chore. I had to reread sentences because incorrect words were used. Seeing all the typos suggests to me that this author was only concerned with turning a quick buck. Please save your money and pass on this one. On a positive note, this was my first purchase on Amazon and I was pleased with how quickly I received my order. I look forward to ordering something from Amazon again, hopefully something I can post a favorable review on!

As far as the negative reviews of this book go, I can only conclude that the reviewers have either not read the book or they are simply too lazy to implement the instructions within the book. If they are ardent folowers of "The Secret," they are probably waiting for the "Wish Fairy" to fulfill their wishlist!

I am sure that some people have been able to obtain varying positive results from The Secret. However, the vast majority of its readers will derive little or no benefit from it, for reasons too diverse to cover here in this review. If you would like to read The Secret's reviews, please look this title up and see for yourself.

This book methodically shows you how to really decide what you want from life, craft a plan to achieve your goals, and ways to keep up your initiative. If you will use the picture of the book to read the table of contents, you will note that it shows that the book sets a trap for you.

Yes indeed, the author does set a mental trap for you leaving you with only two basic choices on what to do with the information you have now discovered; You can stay where you are, or you can utilize the material and become a "Force Of Nature!"

There is nothing mystical or magical about the contents of this book. What this book does is to show you how to start thinking for yourself! No small achievement today. A few people achieve great things in their life, while most of us muddle through life wondering what happened when we get older.

If you read this book and actually follow through with the contents, you will not be waking up years later wondering what happened to your life.

Very interesting read. I have run into this information 30 years ago in college and for the life of me can't find the old book it came from. So this is a good reintroduction and addition to the old knowledge. Thanks for finding it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really getting what you want, February 27, 2008
This review is from: The Forbidden Book Of Getting What You Want - Make the World Your Banquet Starting With A Simmering Stew of Ambition (Paperback)
No coddling allowed in this book. Most books of this ilk focus on avoiding what you don't want. This book shows you how to get what you truly want and integrates the conscious reasoning part of the brain with the creative emotional part of the brain. There are a lot of books out there right now that focus on only creating a picture while leaving out the action. This book literally traps you into manifesting what you desire. It's beauty is in it's simplicity and ease of implementation. I can't recommend it highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Works!, January 23, 2008
This review is from: The Forbidden Book Of Getting What You Want - Make the World Your Banquet Starting With A Simmering Stew of Ambition (Paperback)
There are many paths to success and fulfillment. Some are long, winding, barely discernible trails that run through the brambles and brush of New Age psychobabble. And then there is the direct route -- the straight, paved, clearly marked path.

The Forbidden Book of getting What You Want provides a road map of the direct route. Its practical tips, advice and exercises are based on proven scientific principles and, if followed, ensure arrival at your destination -- a place where you get what you want. More than that, it encourages you to take the journey. The book is literally life-changing. And as Martha Stewart might say, "That's a good thing."

Many people can use a number of these methods to *truly improve* their lives. A large number of people will become angry while reading this book. It is clear that JK Ellis has expressed what he feels is the truth -- without velvet gloves.
