4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing, suspenseful, and a great page turner.
This book was somewhat of a surprise. I had never read this author before and the cover synopsis did not do it justice. I found myself almost immediately wrapped into the story. A young girl, raised in a brothel, goes away to school, determined to escape once and for all her scandalous past, create a new identity and lose "the darkness" that seems to live...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but not her best
I'm not sure what it was about this story that left me feeling... blase... about it. It wasn't a bad story, but it didn't quite pack the punch her stuff usually does.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing, suspenseful, and a great page turner., October 15, 2001
This review is from: Forbidden Fruit (Paperback)
This book was somewhat of a surprise. I had never read this author before and the cover synopsis did not do it justice. I found myself almost immediately wrapped into the story. A young girl, raised in a brothel, goes away to school, determined to escape once and for all her scandalous past, create a new identity and lose "the darkness" that seems to live within her family tree. All of the Pierron woman have been hookers, sinners, evil, and Hope Pierron is determined to break the cycle. Hope tosses away her past like a bad dream, and eventually gives birth to her own daughter. More than ever she is determined that the legacy of darkness will not inhabit her daughter, and what follows is a story of terror and suspense, well-written and enjoyable at the same time. The interwoven love story is moving, the plot enticing, and the the whole book a fabulous read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super, SUPER GOOD BOOK, February 23, 2000
This review is from: Forbidden Fruit (Paperback)
If I could have given this book a 10, I would have. It took place in my New Orleans, my home town (or should I say city). She is the first author who writes about N.O. and gets the streets, etc. correct. The romance is very good, as was the mystery. I read Shocking Pink and felt she could not write one as good as that one, but how wrong I was. I still have 3 more of her books to read and I am looking forward to all of them. If you pick up a book by Erica Spindler, you CANNOT GO WRONG. If you notice, all of her books got 5 star ratings. Well, one got 4 1/2*'s. I cannot recommend enough that you pick up on one (no, on all of her books). You WON'T be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ!!!, September 4, 2000
By
This review is from: Forbidden Fruit (Paperback)
I recieved this book as a freebie about 2 years ago, and recently when I ordered another one, they sent it again. I decided I would give it a try, though very skeptical. This book is by far the best I have ever layed my hands on. I was going through the book so fast that I had to force myself to stop reading it because I didnt want the book to end. I dont think I can read another book because I'm sure nothing can compare to this work of art. When I finished the book I was sad because I knew there was nothing left! I just finished it today and I'm already thinking about the book! All I can say is that this book is worth every minute you spend reading it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Forbbiden fruit a dramatic fast read, June 17, 2001
By
Desmond Chan (Bishan North Singapore) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Forbidden Fruit (Paperback)
Forbidden fruit is Erica Spindler at her best - a tragedy that spins three generation where Lily Pierron sends her daughter, Hope away from her sordid past but Hope is already incensed with the fact that she is already being consumed by the Darkness - associating herself with illicit sex. Her daughter, Glory is strictly supervised by her pious self, and forbids her to ever see Santos, an orphan picked up by Lily.

Deceptions, sins and emotional rollercoaster, Forbidden Fruit is a melodrama upped by charged emotions and a romance thwarted by the murder of Santo's mother and the demise of Glory's father. Erica Splindler gives a fast read that is zinged with emotions, but not for any particular twist or insight. It is a speedy read for anyone who likes the tale spinned with dramatic characters/

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner by Erica Spindler!, July 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Forbidden Fruit (Paperback)
This is the fourth book I've read by Ms. Spindler and it's as good as her other books. This story is about the legacies of the Pierron and St. Germaine women. It's ironic that the women who commit the sins of passion are considered good-hearted and compassionate, yet the woman who goes to church and preaches cleanliness and good is the most evil of all. This book has a lot of passion without being sleazy and carries with it a tremendous amount of emotion, guilt, and regret. Ms. Spindler did a terrific job with this book and that is why she is one of my favorite authors! I look forward to her next novel to come out.

I got this book in the mail because I do mail orders. It was a freebee, I never thought I would read it. I've never been one to read romace that's what soaps are for. Santo's captured heart! The twists and turns of the story kept me captivated with suspense I couldn't put it down. Before I would stop reading for the night I would glance ahead a chapter or two to see what would come next, then I'd be reading for another 2 hours or so. Stanto's, Glory, Liz and especially Hope all having such different lives but they were more connected than anyone could ever imagine! I am anxious to read more from Erica Spindler!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Read It Slowly To Make It Last!, April 1, 2007

I so much fun with this book! I read it on vacation beside a pool and tried to pace myself because I did not want the book to end.
I first started reading Erica Spindler when I picked up "Shocking Pink" in the grocery store and loved it. "Forbidden Fruit" is by far her best I think.

I don't usually read modern romance, my favorite being historical romances, but I got this book as a freebie and could not put it down. Thank you Ms. Spindler for writing such a great book. The characters were endearing and I hoped it would never end.
