So THIS is how good a romance can be!,
By
This review is from: The Forbidden Lord (Lord Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
I do not normally read romance novels, but I bought this one because Sabrina Jeffries was a speaker at a writer's conference in Oklahoma I attended, and I was sufficiently impressed with her talk on how to write sensual dialog that I decided to give her work a try. I was not disappointed. Her characters are clearly written and have clear motivations, her dialog is snappy, and her sensual scenes are, well, sensual. This book accomplished its mission -- it swept me up and made me regret each time I had to put it down. I probably would buy more of her books, based on how much I enjoyed this one.

This Story Sizzles,
This review is from: The Forbidden Lord (Lord Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
The Forbidden Lord is a wonderfully written story. The characters are colorful and lively. I couldn't wait to read the last page.Emily Fairchild a meek responsible rector's daughter whose life is dull and boring is about to get the jolt of her life. Her best friend, Sophie, attempts to elope but her father Lord Nesfield thwarts her plans and sends her off to Scotland while he hunts down the scoundrel Sophie wants to marry. Emily refuses to help Lord Nesfield find the villan who would dare to marry his daughter so Lord Nesfield blackmails Emily. Emily is forced to masquerade as Lady Emma to find the man who has led Sophie astray. Jordan Willis, the Earl of Blackmore, is intrigued by Lady Emma. He suspects her of being a fraud and does everything in his power to force her to admit she's a fake. Jordan unwittingly falls in love with Emma/Emily as the plot twists and turns. The Forbidden Lord keeps the reader intoxicated until the very end of the story.

A DEFINITE KEEPER!,

What a great book! I read The Pirate Lord and absolutely loved it. That book was a hard act to follow. I wasn't sure if Jordan had what it took for his own book since he was a boorish character in the first book. I am happy to say that I was wrong. This book was equally good and Jordan was hero material after all. He falls in love with Emily who is a rector's daughter. She is the epitome of innocence. He too is innocent in the way of love because it is a foreign emotion for a rake like himself. They fall in love despite her dark secret. What I really like about Sabrina Jeffries books is that she depicts both characters vulnerability when they fall in love for the very first time. Neither character is too scarred or has too much emotional baggage. It is just two people experiencing the ups and downs of falling in love.

BOY DID JORDAN GET HIS!!!,
This review is from: The Forbidden Lord (Lord Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is about the stepbrother of Sara Willis, the eventual wife of the "Pirate Lord" (I hope you read that one first, or else you will be seriously confused!!!) Jordan is one arrogant s.o.b.,but once you get into his sad life story, you understand where some of it comes from. Emily has a strong sense of principles and a puritan mindset, which Jordan quickly goes about destroying!!! These 2 are a match made in heaven, even though they both fought it like hell. A good, stormy romance that makes you want to slap the characters silly until they see the light!!! There are some loose ends though. Revenge is SWEET!!!

Wish I'd discovered Sabrina Jeffries sooner!,

This review is from: The Forbidden Lord (Lord Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was my first Sabrina Jeffries book, and I'm kicking myself for having missed The Pirate Lord (although I have already bought my copy of The Dangerous Lord, the third book in the trilogy). Ms. Jeffries' characters come alive. Each one of them has a distinct personality. Jordan and Emily are well-motivated and enjoyable, and the chemistry between them is wonderful. But all of the secondary characters in this book are well-drawn, too. I particularly liked Ms. Jeffries use of humor. Her witty lines were part of the characters and not there just for the sake of being witty. And although the book was extremely funny in places, her conflicts were serious ones, strong enough to last the duration of the story. Can't wait to start the next Sabrina Jeffries book!

Starts slowly but builds to an unforgettable romance!,

It took me a little while to get into this story - Emily I thought might appear boring and not able to handle Lord Blackmore - boy was I ever wrong. The plot, her pretending to be someone else Lady Emma, to get information about who had tried to elope with her friend Sophie was perfect. It allowed Emily to flirt and seem to be a wanton - not that Jordan did not know immediately who she really was. I liked the fact that he knew - sometimes in these stories the guy seems a little clueless. There was a strength and intensity to Jordan that I found very very sexy and to die for! The chemistry between this couple was intense and very real. The storyline a bit of a mystery and kept one guessing how they would sort out the tangle in the end. Emily only wanted Jordan's heart and in the end the stiff Lord Blackmore had a much bigger heart than he ever thought capable of.

what's in a name?,

Emily Fairchild, an innocent rector's daughter, is being forced by blackmail, to masquerade as a debutante in London for evil Lord Nesfield, so that they can find out who was trying to elope with Nesfield's daughter Sophie, one of Emily's best friends. Emily has never told a lie in her life and now she finds herself having to behave like an outragous flirt, by the name of Miss Emma, and tell a web of lies, inorder to find out who did it! No one in the ton knows that Emma is really Emily a simple rector's daughter except for one man, Jordan Willis, the Earl of Blackmore. Because you see Jordan and Emily have met before and even "quite accidently" shared a stolen kiss. Ever after that first kiss Jordan has never forgotten that sweet innocent girl from Willow Crossing where they had both had mistaken idenity that had ended in the wonderful kiss. But surly this Miss Emma can't possibly be HIS Emily! Impossible! She was too sweet natured and could quote any part of the bible at any moment! But they look the same, smell the same, and even kiss the same! Well almost kiss the same, this Emma is MUCH more brazen than Emily. But.... This story was abolutly amazing! I loved every moment of it. This is actually the second time that I read it because I forgot to write a review and give credit where credit is due! The characters are very well thought out, and you can really feel the two main characters fall in love. Espically Jordan! The moment when he FINALLY admitted to being in love with Emily was one of the best parts of the book! Even the story line was a good one! Mrs. Jeffries did a great job with providing additional characters inorder to keep the mystery of Sophie's secret sutior alive and burning! I highly recommend this book to everyone! Sabrina Jeffries is a wonderful author! This wasn't my first of her's and most certainly won't be my last!!!!!

This was a very good book. Jordan was a great character with alot of depth. Emily was a total innocent, but with a great amount of spark. They offset each other perfectly with Jordan teaching Emily her passionate side and Jordan learning how to love.
The plot was interesting as well as the supporting characters. I really liked Ian, Viscount St.Clair. Her next book is about him. I recommend this book highly.

This book was every bit as good as the Pirate Lord, which I thought would be difficult. Although I initially found the reason Emily decided to become Emma a bit difficult to believe, I forgave Jeffries completely as I became enthralled with the story of Jordan and Emily/Emma. And after the scene in the British Museum, I will never view the Elgin Marbles in the same manner!!

I had just finished pirate lord another 5 star book, and had to run out and purchase this. It starts off exactly where pirate lord ends which was nice. It was like being able to continue a great book that you didn't want to put down. I loved Jordan and Emily's characters. And I can't wait to read Sinclair's story. I am sure he must be the third lord in the series. Also I am going to have to pick up the rest of Jeffries books. She is such a great writer and I am surprised the I read 2 5 star books from her in a row!
