I have become addicted to Ellora's Cave authors. The erotic romance novels in this e-imprint are erotic, sensual and creative to the core! I decided to give erotic fantasy a whirl with Cheyenne McCray's Forbidden, the first installment from the Seraphine Chronicles. This novel sucked me in and didn't let go until its last page. This is an insatiable story of tasting the forbidden fruit. Liana has been chosen by the Sorcerer. She cannot mate with anyone other than him. The Sorcerer has got to get her before moon change... but Aric, the king of the Nordain, beings that transform from human to bird form, captures Liana before this happens. Liana cannot believe that the object of her fantasies and desires has come to her rescue. Aric, too, is attracted to Liana and he finds it difficult to resist the beautiful faerie girl with the moonlight tresses and luminous beauty. But Aric cannot succumb to Liana's seduction, for he'd endanger the fate of his people. But will he be able to resist the forbidden fruit?

I just loved the erotic descriptions in this novel. This novel contains several of the best erotic scenes ever. They're delectable beyond words. And this is also one of the most unique love stories I've ever read. This novel takes fantasy into new heights! I just couldn't put this novel down. It enthralled me from beginning to end. The other parts of this series haven't been released in paperback, but I hope that Ellora's Cave releases them soon. I have become addicted to this author's work! I cannot recommend this beautiful fantasy romantica enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars New Author and New World!, September 20, 2003

This review is from: Forbidden (The Seraphine Chronicles, Book 1) (Paperback)
Incredible! This is an author to watch and buy. The world created in this series [yes a series, and the author has a variety of titles available through Ellora's Cave] is unique, the author, however, brings it right to life for the reader...puts them right there with the characters.

The characters! Well, they are multi-dimensional and, despite being something other than human, the reader has no problem relating to them and their triumphs and losses.

Yes, this is erotic fiction - a perfect read for the person looking for real sensuality in with their romance. Yes, a must author and a must title!

5.0 out of 5 stars First book of the Seraphine Chronicles series., September 13, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Forbidden (The Seraphine Chronicles, Book 1) (Paperback)
Tanzinite woman, wingless and wan
Nordai of Power, of twins, we warn
One path to doom, enslavement and walls
With unholy mating, Dair rises or falls

It is the above prophecy that affects the characters in SERAPHINE CHRONICLES BOOK I: FORBIDDEN, by Cheyenne McCray.

Liana is a Tanzinite female who was banished from her people, because she was born without wings. She, along with her heart-sisters Tierra and Ranelle, was forced to live and work among humans. Liana's gift as a Seer is her means of support until she can escape. Liana has been promised to mate Zanden, who is a Nordian betrayer, and now an evil sorcerer. Liana has a short time to escape this mating. In the meantime, Liana is strongly attracted to a stranger, a forbidden one.

This dark stranger that so attracts Liana is Aric L'tiercel, King of the Nordain, Aric is bound to prevent the mating between Liana and Zanden by whatever means possible. He rescues Liana and then finds out his biggest fear - remaining in Liana's presence. She is forbidden. He is afraid he cannot resist her.

Liana and Aric demonstrate an amazing example of heartmates. It was Aric at first who realized this. He'll do anything to be with Liana forever, even if it means giving up his kingdom. Liana and Aric are from opposing worlds. Though they were forbidden to each other, their passions were impossible to resist. It is as if they were two halves from the same stone.

While safe in Aric's care from the evil sorcerer, Liana feels that, even though she loves Aric with every fiber of her being, she cannot allow him to give up his kingdom. So she flees Aric and is placed in immediate danger by Zanden's minions. She is again rescued and is bound to Aric as his queen. It is a dangerous time for them, yet, because Zanden is still on the loose. Liana has to deal with her past, and the fact that she has not seen her friends since her rescue. Liana's visions show her they may be in danger.

FORBIDDEN was just the type of book to keep you turning pages. There are plenty of suspenseful elements here to keep your attention. The sensuality of this book is incredibly hot. The passion between Aric and Liana was very arousing, all the while, reading of the sensual Elves and their views on physical pleasures. Even with the Elvish influence, Aric and Liana remain completely devoted to each other. In FORBIDDEN, you'll be left looking forward to the rest of this chronicle. It continues with Ranelle's story in BEWITCHED, available now, and Tierra's in SPELLBOUND, May, by Ms. McCray.

Since I read a great deal this is truly a compliment. Ms McCray has created a world of wonder and magic. There are wonderful creatures, elves, shapeshifters, and a nasty villian. A prophecy about to be fulfilled and a world on the verge of change. If you love fantasy and even if you have never read any before you are going to love this book. In addition of the outstanding fantasy Ms McCray is one of the hottest romantica writers on todays market. Her love scenes will have you turning up the air conditioning or standing in a blizzard to cool down the heat. Her books are a nost buy for anyone wanting more spice in their romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE FORBIDDEN HAS NEVER BEEN SO GOOD!, October 26, 2003
This review is from: Forbidden (The Seraphine Chronicles, Book 1) (Paperback)
Ms. McCray's words transport readers into a fantasy world that is captivating and out of this world. The characters are fascinating and exotic, from shape shifters to elves and goddesses that are all seductive, exciting and charismatic.

It's a world of intrigue and breathlessness trying to out-run the evil Sorcerer, the steamy love scenes are explosive, addicting and send your body tingling. The secondary characters add so much to this story that readers will come to care for them as they do Aric and Liana. The twists and turns in this story are shocking and totally unexpected, gripping readers even more for the sequels to this story.

Ms. McCray has her own spectacular creative style that makes her a fan favorite.

Having a taste of the FORBIDDEN has never been so good!

4.0 out of 5 stars A liitle more depth in this one than some of her others, September 3, 2005
This review is from: Forbidden (The Seraphine Chronicles, Book 1) (Paperback)
After reading the first three of Ms. McCray's Wonderland series, I began to despair that I'd ever read a story from her with some small bit of depth. I'm giving this book, the first in her Seraphine Chronicles series, four stars in hopes that the series will continue to develop well with the next few books in it.

What we have here is a Tanzanite maiden by the name of Liana, an outcast among her people, who is more or less promised to an evil sorcerer. When said evil sorcerer comes to claim her one dark and foreboding night, she is rescued by a man named Aric, who is of the Nordain race. He rescues her in order to save his people, along with everyone else out there, from a prophecy that cannot come to be. Liana and Aric are instantly attracted to one another and both are soon in for an adventure as they give in to their feelings for one another. They care deeply for one another and are prepared to give up everything to be together. In step the noble elves to help them as well as Aric's brother and another good friend, both of whom will have their own stories following this one.

Keep in mind that this is a fantasy, like McCray's Wonderland series, but I felt it had a little more to offer readers in that the book seemed to deliver more than just sex and pure fluff. Okay, there was still plenty of fluff, but there was a much better effort made by the author in this book than in her Wonderland series. If you like a little erotica in your sex scenes, a little fantasy in the landscape, this one's a keeper. I look forward to reading the others in the series, if they will ever come out in paperback.

5.0 out of 5 stars An exciting journey shrouded in danger and passion, October 26, 2003
By
"rmpdixie2" (Chattanooga, TN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Forbidden (The Seraphine Chronicles, Book 1) (Paperback)
FORBIDDEN,the first of the Seraphine Chronicles, introduces readers to a whole new world filled with elves, and other intriguing creatures. Meet Aric, King of the Nordain and the beautiful Seer Liana, the woman destined to marry the Sorceror. Aric plans to stop that union at all costs. However, he didn't count on the desire he felt for Liana, or that she would feel the same.Their union is "forbidden" but will it always be?

Author Cheyenne McCray weaves a tantalizing tale with FORBIDDEN, giving us glimpses of future tales in the series to come, not to mention the magical realm in which these stories take place. Definitely not a book to be missed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Timeless Tales review, September 14, 2003
By

This review is from: Forbidden (The Seraphine Chronicles, Book 1) (Paperback)
BY TT reviewer Nicole La Folle

There is a prophecy of a wingless Tanzinite who will mate with a Nordain of power and produce twins leading to the enslavement and fall of Dair. Liana is a Tanzinite who was cast out by her people because she was born without wings. The sorcerer Zanden, a Nordain, controls the town of Fiorn where a cruel older woman raised Liana, along with two other orphaned girls. When he heard about her, he claimed her for himself, forbidding any man to touch her or for her to even pleasure herself. Liana has the gift of seeing visions of the future and, having seen her fate, doesn't want to fall into Zanden's cruel hands. She plans to escape.

Aric L'tiercel is King of the Nordain. He cannot allow Zanden to claim Liana, as it would mean the downfall of his people. He plans to kidnap her from the tavern where she works telling fortunes. As Aric is preparing to act, the irani of Zanden attack the village to capture Liana. Panic ensues in the tavern, causing a fire to break out. Aric grabs Liana and throws her out the window, then onto the back of his horse and gallops off into the night. Aric knows that she is the Tanzinite of prophecy and that he is forbidden from mating with her, but he can't keep his hands off of her, especially when Liana keeps encouraging him.

Ms. McCray has created a new and exciting world with her Seraphine Chronicles. While she uses some familiar fantastical people, like Elves, she has a new and erotic take on them. She has also created new peoples in the Nordain and Tanzinites. Her characters are lifelike and the story line will keep you from wanting to return to the real world for hours. I am looking forward to future release by Ms. McCray and am happy to say it looks like she has one planned for each month this year.

3.0 out of 5 stars First attempt at reading erotica & just not for me..., September 16, 2005
This review is from: Forbidden (The Seraphine Chronicles, Book 1) (Paperback)
I love fantasy, and somehow started reading romance novels. Because some of my favorite authors write some pretty steamy love scenes I thought I'd give erotica a try.

Cheyenne McCray has a great imagination and I didn't have a problem with her writing abilities. This is what I crave when reading fantasy. However, I felt that the story line itself was lacking in development. So if SERAPHINE CHRONICLES is standard for writing erotica I don't think I care for this genre as a whole.

I really felt that Liana wasn't a whole character although I am totally fascinated with her...the concept of her hair was amazing. However it was just sex, and more sex; it did nothing for me and actually became a turn off. I got frustrated because I wanted more of a plot just as I wanted to know more about Liana and Aric. I am very grateful some issues were resolved but not enough, for example the relationship with Aric. I was very disappointed.

If Cheyenne McCray ever writes a full-length novel, I will buy it. Just like if SERAPHINE CRONICLES 1: FORBIDDEN is ever rewritten into a full-length novel I would buy and reread it. But I don't think I'll ever read another book strictly selling as erotica, unless it's more of a full-length novel rather than short story. I really need more character definition, build up etc to enjoy the story I am reading. Otherwise it's like reading a story in an anthology...not for me.
