4.0 out of 5 stars I like this book
I am a fan of Gwynne Forster books. Most of them are really good. I enjoyed the last of the series. Luther was just what Ruby needed. She justed needed to see him as a man. Going from family friend to lover is a big transition. Ruby just needed a push in the right direction.

1.0 out of 5 stars I knew I should have left it alone, November 2, 2007

Two pages into this mess, I knew I'd made a mistake and I wondered if it was too late to send it back to eharlequin.com. Let me just get it out now. The book sucked on so many levels. So many. I was damn near in tears through the second half of the book, because I wanted to finish it.
The story line is that of two people who've been bestfriends forever who suddenly find themselves in bed together. I love bestfriends who fall in love books, I really do. But I think that this one has spoiled them all for me It sucked.
Specifically, the male and female charactes were 35 and 29 respecively. They talked like they were 80 year olds. This became even more obvious, when they were actually speaking to a 90 year old man. I think that's becase the author is older than the characters (No offense) and doesn't know how our generation speaks and interacts.
On top of that, this was a part of a series. A 4 part series. They could not have ended this series any worse. Brenda Jackson opened it with a perfect story. Jacqueline Thomas almost ruined it with a mediocre story. Elaine Overton saved it with the cutest story I've ever read. Then comes Gwynne Forster to just destroy it worse than a 18 car pile up on a highway in LA. I mean come one. Kimani couldn't find anybody else to do this? No Maureen Smith, Tamara Sneed, Adrienne Byrd, A.C. Arthur. Nobody?
Anyway, she basically unraveled everything that the other three authors had weaved. She changed everybodys personality. There were 4 sisters, who all had the same personality? No. The youngest sister throughout the entire series had been known as the wild one, yet in this she was the melodramatic one? The book took place over a six month period, maybe even less. And you're telling me that she suddenly changed into this uptight married woman? I so doubt it. And then, the youngest sisters husband was all big and alpha male in his book, yet in this one he's scared to tell his wife that he doesn't want her to put them in debt by having a pool put in? Let's forget the fact that he was well off in his own book? Did the dow jones go down or something between these book? Basically, this book was a big disappointment. I'm going to stick to my guns now and remember my vow to never ever ever ever ever ever read another Gwynne Forster book. Amazon, ya'll should really get a half point system.

1.0 out of 5 stars Put this one on your library list, October 29, 2007

I have to agree with the other two reviewers. I was really looking forward to the final chapter in the Three Weddings and a Reunion series featuring the Lockhart Sisters. To say that I was disappointed in this story is an understatement. While Gwynne has had some outstanding books, this was not one of them. I would have hoped she would have capitalized on the great character foundation that was built by Brenda Jackson, Jacquelin Thomas and Elaine Overton in the three preceding stories in this series to take Ruby and Luther to another level. The story seemed to have no plot at all. After Ruby and Luther spent the night together they both jumped to conclusions about what the other person thought about their night together. There was no development of the relationship between Ruby and Luther. This book hopped around back and forth so much it was almost like the characters were bipolar or had split personalities. One minute they were having a pleasant conversation and the next one (or both) of them would go off and walk away as a result of a misunderstanding. Never once did they have a heart to heart conversation about what they were feeling until the very end of the book. I have never seen such immature characters as these. I think Gwynne could have capitalized on another plot line which would have made for a much better book.

1.0 out of 5 stars N da Know, October 22, 2007
This review is from: Forbidden Temptation (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
After reading and enjoying the first three books of this series, I was very dissapointed in the last book. It is very boring. How can two adults be so clueless about the basics of a relationship. I have read a number of MS Forster's books and this is certainly not up to her usual standards. Perhaps she thought the excellent writing of the other stories would carry this one - wrong. What a let down

2.0 out of 5 stars What happened?, November 26, 2007
This review is from: Forbidden Temptation (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
The series was getting good and then BANG! Or should I say poof. There was a lot of potential in the romance between Ruby and Luther, and I kept turning page after page waiting for it to shine through. Couldn't they have gotten it on at least one more time? Talked about their differences and made something lasting come of it. Except for the time they sleep together and the night on the balcony there is no heat in these pages, just confusion and repetitive misunderstandings. Why really was Ruby and Luther not able to let their love grow and passion ignite? Even at the end, the reader is left wondering can these two ever have a stable relationship with all of the back and forth bickering over nothing.

The book had lots of potential but fell flat.

1.0 out of 5 stars So much potential... so little execution, November 3, 2007
This review is from: Forbidden Temptation (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Where to start! I read the reviews before I bought the book. But thought... I should check it out for myself... let me apologize to all the reviewers for not believing !!!! This book was horrible. It started out okay, but my gosh how much can two people argue and not get the point!!!!!!!!! It seems as though the author did not have a good way to prolong the book so she just kept making these two argue over stupid statements. I wish someone else would have gotten the contract to write this book. I was a bit skeptical anyway when I found out that Mrs. Forster would be writing the book. I've read some of her other novels and they were okay. I didn't see where she would fit into this series..... and boy was I right! The sad part is that this is the MOST I have written in a review... I'm just sorry it had to be negative. Luther and Ruby's story had so much potential... could have been a whirlwind romance... instead.. just a dud, I feel sorry for these two characters. They got the short end of the stick! Save this for the library!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Forbidden Temptation, November 2, 2007
This review is from: Forbidden Temptation (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm sorry I bought this book. There was no plot whatsoever. I truly loved the other books in the series that I read (Brenda Jackson and Elaine Overton), but this book lacked any type of cohesiveness or consistency. This book reminds me of earlier romance novels that had the protagonist and antagonist chasing each other the entire book and then proclaiming their love in the final sentence. SAVE YOUR MONEY!

1.0 out of 5 stars Muddled Plot, Stilted Characters, December 12, 2007
By
This review is from: Forbidden Temptation (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was not a good book. It was a BAD book. The characters' motivations made no sense, and I was so sick of both of them by the first quarter of the book. The "plot" had weird transitions that were awkward, forced, and some totally unecessary, and the dialogue...gee whiz!

I enjoyed the rest of the series, but this was a terrible letdown as a read. I have enjoyed Ms. Forster's books before, but- where was her editor?

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment :-(, November 5, 2007
This review is from: Forbidden Temptation (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have read Ms. Forster's books in the past and her earlier writings were the best. I knew I should not have bought the book but knew I couldn't leave the series incomplete (wish I had). There was too much passion, fire and desire between Ruby and Luther in the previous books and in the intro to this one for it to go down hill so fast. It took me a week and a half to read this book whereas I read the others in a day. I feel that Ms. Carmen Green should have had the honor of closing out this series; from her past writings, know it would have been a towering inferno.

I was very disappointed in this book. I was excited about reading it since the first three was interesting, enjoyable and I highly recommended them to my friends, but when I started reading the fourth book I felt like the writer did not know what to write and I felt it was pieced together or written in a hurry without a care about how the readers of the first three books would feel about this story. I really was sure how I was supposed to feel and was left with the feeling of I really don't care what happens with Ruby and Luther. This truly was one of the worst books I have read in a long time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Can I have the time I spent reading this back?, December 20, 2007
By
This review is from: Forbidden Temptation (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I wouldn't even know where to start. It isn't that often that I find myself struggling to finish a book. But this one took everything out of me. It's hard for me to understand how the oldest of the bunch can have this many insecurities throughout the ENTIRE book. I could expect this from Amber, but Ruby? I guess I just expected a bit more maturity from the woman who helped to raise her sisters. I am a fan of her other books but this one was a great disappointment.
