Deep Immersive Experience

Bass Boost gives your audio a kick in the you-know-what to add depth and realism to the sounds of the game.

Bigger Is Better

Massive 50mm speakers deliver crisp highs and deep, rumbling lows for the ultimate in video game immersion.

Total Control Over Sound

With independent game and chat volumes, turn the game sound up & chat volume down. Or turn the chat up and the game down. The choice is yours.

Voice Level Recognition

Know how people tend to scream when wearing headphones? With Microphone Monitor, now you can hear your voice in your headset so you’re not that person.

Listen to Your Own Music

Quickly plug in your smartphone or MP3 player and you can replace the game soundtrack with your own music.

Turtle Beach Audio Advantage

The amplified stereo sound produced by the Ear Force XL1 will ensure that you hear your games loud and clear. Variable bass boost at your disposal will give your audio a swift kick in the you-know-what when you need it to.

You’ll be able to hear sound cues that are missed with conventional TV speakers, such as the sound of enemy footsteps or the click of a loading weapon in the distance. In short, you'll react faster and take them out before they take you out, giving you the edge that can make the real difference between winning and losing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great headset, great value! December 11, 2011
Color Name:Black/Green
Bought this headset a week ago to play with Modern Warfare 3. Always heard people talking about listening for footsteps and how it helped so I wanted to try it out but I wanted a cheap set. These are great! The sound is excellent, with the right perks in MW3 you can hear everything, footsteps, bullet casings hit the ground, everything sounds so amazing with these headphones!

They're light and comfy enough too that you can wear them for a while and not notice it. Played for about 4 hours the other night (oops) and never once did I feel uncomfortable or have to take them off for a break! So glad I bought these, definitely worth the price and then some!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for listening, not so great for talking.... December 31, 2011

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this Ear Force XL1 headset a month or two ago. It's good for sound quality, it's durable, and the cords are very long (useful if you sit far away from your Xbox). I had a pair of wireless Turtle Beaches a few years ago, and while they were good, there was often feedback from the transmitter and they lost connection fairly regularly. So, I was not exactly ready to drop any money on another wireless headset. The XL1 is a low-price headset, and the features are good for the price. The sound isn't going to blow you away, but it's a nice solution for late-night gaming. I'd give this headset a higher rating, but there's one HUGE problem with them.

The built-in microphone is incredibly noisy and my Xbox Live friends refuse to play with me if I'm using it. They complain that all they can hear is feedback from the game I'm playing, and my voice comes out garbled and muddy. I tested it with people out of my friends list, and same thing: very annoying feedback. I've given up on using the mic altogether, so I really only use the headset now for offline and solo gaming. Perhaps this is only an issue with my pair, because I've not seen much on other sites describing the same problem. Maybe I'm unlucky, but I can't give this a great review because of this issue.

3.0 out of 5 stars ok for the money March 9, 2012

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I decided to go ahead and take the plunge and order this after reading all the positive reviews, which seem to outweigh the negative ones... a few things you should be aware of:

- if your xbox is connected to the tv via an hdmi cable ...which more than likely it is since most people nowadays have a high definition TV and want to take advantage of those crisp, sharp hdmi graphics.... then you WILL need what is referred to as a "xbox 360 audio adapter cable" from some third party seller in order to make use of this product.. I have an xbox 360 "slim" or "S" version, no idea if the audio adapter cables designed for the older (non slim, white not black colored) xbox 360's will work for the xbox 360 slim but I THINK they might... these adapters are relatively cheap, can be found for under five dollars including shipping and handling on ebay (or around the same price on amazon if you order twenty five or more dollars total to qualify for the whole free shipping and handling deal)

- the packaging the TV comes in says you can use the "tv audio out jacks found on most tv's" to use the turtle headset without the need for an audio adapter... what makes me nervous is I purchased the Panasonic VIERA TC-P54VT25 high definition television which won various awards and was considered to be THE tv of the year - and it had no audio out jacks just audio in jacks... if a TV that distinguished didn't have audio out jacks it makes me wonder if the TV's that didn't get any awards would really have audio out jacks?

- reading through the complaints listed for such audio adapter cables leaves me a bit nervous ... there seem to be a fair number of complaints about them not working though the number of "I'm happy with this" comments seem to outweigh the negative ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price! January 20, 2013
Color Name:Black/Green|Verified Purchase
I was skeptical about these because they look like they might not be that good, but they are great. The sound quality is so good I would easily compare these with the turtle Beach X12's. Great headset for the price by far.

4.0 out of 5 stars Neighbor Friendly Circumaural Headset October 4, 2011
Color Name:Black/Green|Verified Purchase
My apartment neighbors are no longer banging on the walls for me to turn down the TV sound! I've played hours of Gears of War 3 online with these on, and hardly noticed them. The headphones use the rest at the top of the headphones to keep the headphones in place; vice grip is only to keep the headphones on your ears: the headphones do not squeeze your head. These work as other reviewers have mentioned. Good stereo headset allowing chat functionality. I've been using them to play Gears of War 3 and Deus Ex for a couple weeks now. Setup is simple, as the Turtle Beach video demonstrates. The box includes a 2.5mm M/M cord that did not work for me; I bought a replacement and chat functionality now works.

Pros:
Seals sound.
Good bass sounds.
Long cord (works about 8 feet away from TV and XBox).
Ability to connect music player to "chat" for listening to your own music (using a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter). And also works as a phone headset (provided you have USB power).
Chat mic picks up voice well (as I'm told by other players).

Cons:
Mic boom swivel weak, no longer staying in place.
Volume adjustments easily moved (rubbing against shirt or sofa can move the dials)
2.5mm M/M cord does not work: causes static on XBL (bought replacement at Monoprice.com)

Other products considered:
Most of the Turtle Beach line-up.
MadCatz/Tritton.

I experience noise crackle on certain scenes of Deus Ex, even with game audio levels decreased. Crackle disappears when game is paused. I'm not sure what exactly causes this, as I have music turned off. It isn't loud, just annoying at times. But after 5 minutes I forget that it's there.
